Do you let Anna stay with you?
Of course! What are friends for?
"Of course you can stay here, Anna." You say with a half-laugh, as if dismissing the possibility you would decline. "Like I could turn away a friend in need."
Anna exhales sharply and gives you a warm smile. "Thank you, John. I was so worried you were going to turn me away."
"And throw you out in the cold? Come on." You shake your head. "Look, you can stay here as long as you need. I don't mind. In fact, It will be nice to have some company around here."
"What's wrong? Don't have a girlfriend to stay the nights?" Anna smirked with a wink.
"Not for a few months now, no." You shake your head. "I go out with coworkers once or twice a week, but other than that I'm usually by myself."
"Well! I guess I don't need to worry about any girls getting jealous then." Anna said with a laugh. "On the long bus ride over, I imagined all the ways this could go wrong. One of the scenarios involved you being married and your wife not wanting me anywhere near the house." She giggled softly.
"No, I don't think marraige is in my immediate future." You chuckle.
"So you've mainly be concentrated on your job then."
"Yeah. And speaking of which, I have got to go to work tomorrow, so we may need to hold back on catching up until tomorrow night."
"Fair enough." Anna nods. "I'll go out and start gathering applications for a job tomorrow while you work."
"Ah, you don't need to rush into that." You shake your head. "You've had a stressful few weeks. If you just want to chill around the house this week, that's more than fine with me."
"You're sure?" Anna asked, cocking her head to the side. "I'd hate to feel like a free-loader."
"It's not a problem. Really." You reassure her. Anna's eyes begin to water and you wonder if you said something wrong. But she has the most sincere smile on her face.
"Th-thank you, John. I never thought you would be this receptive to me even though you have no obligation to. It's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me." She reaches out and grabs your hand with hers. "I can't tell you how much this means to me." You cough slightly and go red in the face. Anna certainly is cute and right now she is looking beautiful. Your brain temporarily drifts off to dirtier thoughts, and as a result, you realize something. You only have one bed. Sure, you have the couch, but it's not like it pulls out into a bed or anything. Your mind reels as you try to figure out what to do for tonight.
