Chapter 19
by Colleem
What's next?
The Opera, a Place to meet imporant Persons.. A Place to Gather.
As the President's column stopped in front of the Opera House, the press and hundreds of fans were already waiting to photograph some of the stars. When the president got out of the car together with Johanna, they were almost blinded by the lightning storm. Richard Lugner was already waiting at the doors to the old antique building. Probably the most famous visitor to the Vienna Opera House had set himself the task of greeting every important visitor personally. At his side stood the two Hollywood stars Daisy Ridley, known from the new Star Wars movies, and Brie Larson, who played the leading role in Captain Marvel. As every year, Lugner had spared no cost and effort to eradicate his defeat from last year. That's why he asked two ladies to be at his side this year. Like every year they were significantly younger and more beautiful than himself, but he belonged to the Show for years and his strange tick was almost legendary. After greeting the president, the President and Johanna entered the opera house. Johanna obviously enjoyed not standing in the foreground. Everyone here regarded her only as the new woman at the President's side but no one perceived her as Captain Germany. So she was already looking forward to a nice evening. Many celebrities had come again this year to take part in the celebrations. While the President and Johanna were busy shaking hands, Sin and Nina were busy getting an overview. The two had been integrated into the security service of the president's office so they would not attract attention. Since so many famous people were here, however, the Vienna Guard had taken over the protection of the building. Sin just joked that it would be a quiet night when Nina leaned against the balustrade and looked into the crowd below her. She hated such events. She hated being among so many people. That showed her again and again how different she was. On top of that it was almost impossible to take over Johanna's protection here.
"Are you worried about my mother?" Sin asked when she noticed the worried look. That she spoke English here was hardly noticeable in the turmoil.
"Not really. The fact that she survived the **** only proves that the legends about her are true. I only fear that the... the..." she said before she became pale.
At the big entrance gates one could see one of the employees who stood at the stairs like in the Middle Ages and hit the ground with a stick.
"Andreas Goldorain, vice clan eldest of the Toreador clan. Rulers of the lands of England and Ireland! Son of the first-born child of Toreador," the servant screamed loudly into the hall as a graceful man with long black hair came into the room. Only a few seconds later an incredibly handsome blonde appeared in a sinfully red dress and the servant also announced her.
"Annabell Chiverie. Vice clan elders of the Tremere Clan. Ruler of the Council of Red Vampires of Vienna and third child of Tremere."
"Vanessa Holland. Vice clan leader of the Lasombra clan. Ruler of the German Reich and bearer of the holy sword of Alexandria".
"Sebastian Thule. Vice clan elder of the Ventrue clan. Ruler of the city of Paris and head of the council of the 13th. Firstborn Son of Ventrue."
Almost relieved, Nina breathed out hastily. All 13 powerful clans had been announced step by step. They were the oldest and most powerful clans of the vampires and all went directly back to descendants of Dracula. The sheer power represented in this room was awe-inspiring. Even though she didn't even have to breathe anymore, she had instinctively stopped the air from panicking and just as she had realized what had been said. But when the servant started again, her jaw folded down.
"Lasombra. Clan father of the Clan Lasombra. Second born to the vampire father Dracula. Master of the German Reich and master of the shadows.
Ventrue. Clan father of the Ventrue clan. Firstborn of the vampire father Dracula. Voice of Dracula. Speaker of the vampires in Dracula's name. Supreme of the Elders by decree of King Dracula."
Hardly anyone inside the opera house had paid any attention to these words at all. Only a few people had even turned in the direction of the entrance, even though the speaker had shouted his words loudly into the room. However, this trick had no effect on Nina as she was a vampire herself.
"Hey? Nina?" Sin asked uncertainly and looked in the direction of the entrance. She didn't seem particularly worried or alarmed but impressed in a strange way. Nina noticed that immediately.
"Shit. Shit. Shit. Where did we get in here!? Fuck. Fuck. Fuck." She was thinking about it. She knew the old commandments of the vampires quite well, better than Shield or Fury could even guess. The policy of the vampires was so deeply rooted in humanity that a separation was hardly possible. But even she had never heard that a meeting of all 13 old clans had taken place. The worst however were the 2 last-mentioned. Venture and Lasombra. Direct descendants of Dracula. She had often heard legends and myths about these direct descendants, who were supposedly the fathers of the 13 old European clans. Blade and she had often found vampires who pretended to be these ancient creatures. But they had never seen a real one before. Nobody, not even Blade, knew exactly what power these beings had. Blade had already won against Dracula once, but he had simply proved how pointless such victories was. Draucla simply ignored his Destruction and raised again from his Ash.
"Hey? Earth to Nina." Sin said again and shook Nina slightly at the shoulder.
"What... yes... everything okay. I just thought... I had seen someone I knew. Do you have any idea... what he just said?" she asked uncertainly. It was more a test than a real question.
"Mhm? No. Sorry. I wasn't listening. No idea what he was yelling. Probably something to do with the guys there. Seem to be important." Said Sin shoulders shrugging. She assumed that people were important but she wasn't interested in why.
"She didn't understand the words but she felt that it meant something. Why?" Nina asked herself and looked at Sin suspiciously. "Why does she perceive something like that?
"Yes... could be... I'm not sure whether the president and captain Germany should be here. I have a very bad feeling," Nina finally said, but Sin shook her head.
"The guard watches over the building and also the personal bodyguards of over 100 celebrities. There are several dignitaries here. This place is safe."
"I... just wanted to say it... Excuse me... I think I should go away for a moment."
"Yes. If anything, the president's doctor is nearby. You look pretty pale. As if they had seen a ghost."
With played security Nina went down the stairs to go to the toilets. As soon as she was there, she bent over one of the bowls and threw up. That just couldn't be true. What was going on here? Were they all after Johanna? If so, how could she possibly be able to protect her from these beings? She still had her transformation as an ace up her sleeve but even in her most powerful form she wasn't sure if she would last long. She was well aware of her powers but had no idea what abilities these ancient creatures had. No known archive contained information about this first known generation after Dracula. Dracula's powers were already better described. Unfortunately it was completely impossible to define what myth and what reality was. But just the fact that it was possible for Dracula to recover from a complete annihilation indicated abilities beyond anything Blade or her knew.
Maybe Johanna wasn't the goal either. Maybe they were here because of her? A werewolf / vampire hybrid.
The small chamber suddenly seemed to get much smaller and she felt panic. She took her cell phone out of her pocket and dialed Blade's number. Unfortunately for her, his phone was turned off at the moment. When his mailbox came through she stammered helplessly.
"Help... please.... I... need... help..."
As soon as she had spoken the last word, a violent animal rage about her weakness seized her. With superhuman strength she crushed the cell phone and threw it into the corner creating a hole in the wall. Her anger about herself was so strong that it even drove away the fear. That was probably the werewolf in her who didn't want to admit that he was afraid of anything.
With newly won self-confidence she left the toilet and purposefully approached Sin. She noticed the SHIELD agent and immediately realized that the young woman was looking different. If she had just been rather intimidated and almost scared, she was now almost aggressive and combative. Her whole attitude reminded Sin of a hunter. Worse still. A hunter who was pushed into a corner and ready to strike out in all directions.
"Are you all right?" Sin asked when Nina had arrived next to her. The determined expression on her face worried her a little.
"Nothing is all right. But there is nothing we can do about it. Maybe we'll be lucky and I'm wrong."
"I don't like the look on your face. Is the President in danger? Or my mother" Sin asked, but the look she got from Nina was more than clear. "Great. Now I also have a bad feeling." Hastily she pressed her radio on her ear and informed all security forces of the president. "This is Sin speaking to everyone. Increased vigilance. Watch every person in the President's environment closely!
While she was now sure that the President was safe, Sin began to examine the room herself. She immediately fell on 2 people who somehow stood out from the crowd. One of them was the world-famous Jason Sombra. She hadn't seen a picture of him yet but she had to admit that this man was really dangerous for women. His skin was pale. He looked like an ancient painting where too much white had been used. His pitch-black hair looked like a veil framing his flawless face. He was a good 2 meters tall and built like Hercules.. Even in his fine suit it was impossible to hide what a powerhouse this man was. At his side stood an unknown man of similar good looks.
This man was slightly smaller than Jason Sombra, although not much. Also his physique was hardly comparable to the former. He didn't look as physically impressive as Jason, but this man had something indescribably impressive. His appearance was rather Greek. His whole appearance had something majestic and awe-inspiring. His long blonde hair was tied together in a braid and his blue eyes looked around amused. However, this man seemed to carry a significant load on his shoulders. And yet he didn't seem burdened by it. Apparently he and Jason were engaged in a stimulating conversation. At her side stood an art critic famous in the German Reich and operator of one of Berlin's famous nightclubs. Another woman stood a little offside and almost had a sign hovering above her head on which "Bodyguard" stood.
But it wasn't just the looks of these two men that fascinated Sin so much. There was something about these two that attracted Sin in an indescribable way. It was hard for her to look away and look around. Sin had followed her gaze and smiled. For some reason it was possible for this woman to feel on a certain level what was wrong with these people. But then some words ripped her from her mind.
"Look at that! Who do we have there" she heard a voice behind her. When Sin and Nina turned around, there was a man and a woman looking down on Nina quite arrogantly. Nina recognized them immediately. They were the highest representatives of the Bruhja and the Tremere in these countries. Both were festively dressed and looked almost contemptuously at Nina. She clenched her fists and pulled down her brows. Sin instinctively sensed the building aggression between the three people. The tension in the air was extremely tangible.
"Do you have a problem with me being here?" asked Nina and tried very hard to keep a neutral tone.
"Not yet" grinned the woman and although she was breathtakingly beautiful something repulsed her Sin terribly. It was the kind of smile one should not believe.
"Then it's good, isn't it? After all, we are all here to enjoy the opera," Nina grinned just as deceitfully as the woman.
"Watch your tongue" the man at the woman's side hissed and clenched his fist as Jason Sombra and his friend came out of nowhere. The bodyguard seemed to follow Jason everywhere, but this time Mrs Holland wasn't there.
"Isn't it amusing how these children argue here?" Jason asked the man who accompanied him.
"I have no idea. I find it extremely embarrassing when people claim they are grown-up. I'm bored to ****," replied the man at Jason's side. His voice shivered through Sin's body. She felt her excitement skyrocketing. The presence of this blonde man alone was fascinating, as if he had an aura around him.
"I know what you mean Atlas. I also find it extremely embarrassing. Come. The opera is about to begin and I have no desire to interfere in such childish disputes." Said Jason and exaggeratedly fanned himself out with a fan of air.
The man who called Jason Atlas just nodded and went off. He went off regardless of the two in front of him. The woman and the man hurried to get out of his way. When he was at Nina's height he smiled at her and said calmly.
"This is an opera. No place for disputes, but we are all here to enjoy the beauty. I'm sure you're here to do an important job but don't worry. Everyone here in the building is perfectly safe! I am absolutely sure of that!"
Nina exhaled relieved and seemed to suddenly exhale. Apparently these words had an intense effect on her. But now she seemed more relaxed and the aggressive posture seemed blown away as she answered.
"Thank you very much. I fully agree with you. And I am confident that your words will be heard." She smiled friendly and with a huge amount of Respect.
The other two, however, were less pleased. They left the grandstand hastily and seemed angry. When Atlas and Jason were away with the bodyguard, Sin asked.
"Were the two friends of yours?"
"No. I once worked against their subordinates... sometimes with them. Let's put it this way. Our goals are often the same but the methods are different".
With that the thing was apparently finished for Nina and she turned around again so that she could observe the crowd among herself.
While Atlas and Jason went down the stairs, they both started to chat.
"With the protection for those here hopefully you didn't mean that you have your bodyguard here, did you?" Jason asked and Anais noticed for the first time something like fear in Jason's voice.
"But of course I have Typhon with me. You know that due to my status I can never travel without protection."
"As if you needed protection from these children Atlas. They couldn't even scratch you."
"I know. The only one who could be dangerous to me here would be you." Said Atlas amused before both looked at each other seriously. Anais just got scared and anxious. How could she protect her master from a man like Atlas. He would sweep her away like a dry blade of grass in a tornado. But then they burst out laughing and embraced each other fraternally. There was a deep, close connection between these two that made something like treason unthinkable.
"But why Typhon? You realize what he did last time in Pompeij" Jason smiled broadly and Atlas shrugged his shoulders.
"His job? While we're at it. Outside there are some members of Hydra. They plan to attack this place. I will make sure that my word continues to carry weight. Do you want him to leave something for your bodyguard? Then she can relieve some stress. She seems tense." Grinned Atlas to Anais who turned bright red.
"Well. Either it's because she calculates her chances of passing in a fight against you... or she's wondering how a threesome would end with both of us." Grinned Jason with an extra wide grin.
Was Anais red until just now she seemed to explode with shame.
"MASTER!" took it from her and Atlas patted her on the shoulder amusedly. "Don't worry. In both cases you would be dead, even if I admit that the one way to die would be very... satisfying!
Anais could feel her knees getting weak and she had to leave here. Jason's presence was sometimes difficult to bear as a woman, but two of them were just too much a woman.
"I will meet your servant outside, sir. I... uh must leave" she stammered before she hastily ran away and left the two ancestors laughing.
"You are a bad Person, Jason" grinned Atlas broadly.
"I know," Jason laughed just as broadly.
