Chapter 25 by Nom Nom Nom de Plume Nom Nom Nom de Plume

How do you find your next job?

Check the Local Bounty Listings

Sometimes, the simplest methods are best. You continue flipping through your datapad, filtering out anything that's too dangerous, too cheap, or too boring.

Once you've tossed the obvious traps and scams, you find a posting that catches your interest. Apparently, there's an escaped **** on the loose by the name of Nojahl. His picture shows a powerful looking Cathar male, scarred but strong from a lifetime of hard labor. The listing claims he's responsible for acts of arson, ****, and robbery, as well as attempting to free other slaves. It would appear he's trying to gather together some sort of **** uprising. You aren't exactly unsympathetic to the plight of an escaped ****, but the **** and arson would be putting other innocents at risk. Morally it's probably a wash? That is, if the morality of the job is important to you.

It looks like the job was posted by a group of merchants, concerned that the local crimelords were using the possible danger to squeeze more protection money from them. The pay is definately good: 5000 credits for his body, another 2000 if he is alive. You assume they want to make an example out of him, or interrogate him to retrieve any other lost slaves. Whatever the reason, it would be best to take him alive.

His last known location is out in the wastes, where rumor has it he has established a refugee camp for runaway slaves.

"So, when do we head out?" Tekka looks up excitedly.

Tekka is still in no way ready to actually join you on a job. There's no word on how armed these slaves are, but they'll likely be **** and dangerous.

"Sorry Tekka, I need you to stay here." She looks about ready to slap you, but you go on. "We have no contacts here, so I'll need you here in case anything comes up. Charm some merchants in the bazaar, play some sabaac in the cantina. The locals say the podracing is good here?" She looks at you skeptically. "Have some fun, go where the people are, and keep your ear to the ground. People want to talk to you, so let them. If we're going to be here for a while, we'll need to get a lay of the land."

Having work to do and the freedom to explore somewhat mollifies her annoyance with you for not taking her with, but she's still pouting.

"Fine. Just don't expect any goodbye fun times."

That's unfortunate, but long term probably for the best. For now you pay your tab and head to the ship. You need to rest and gear up for the inhospitable sounding wasteland tomorrow.

How do you spend the night?

More fun
