The one who was the face of the branch, the secretary for all intents and purposes, summoned the experimental soul to her desk. This soul is your's. Or it will be once you are born. For now, it looks like you will upon reaching your 20th birthday, a choice that the heavenly bodies decided was a good compromise and would be most utilitarian.

John: You called for me?

The secretary, Israfel, smiles. Her voice is angelic indeed, nothing short of melodious.

Israfel: Yes. You were told why you are here, were you not?

John: I was.

Israfel: Then come with me, please.

She guides you into a room in which four angels stand. Each is a woman, seemingly ages 18-35, though you assume they are all far older. Each is beautiful, enough so that they could only be angels. If you remembered them after birth, no human woman could compare to any of them. The angels all stand at attention when Israfel enters the room.

Israfel: At ease, girls. This is the one who is to test our new policy. If it works, it will be implemented within two-hundred years. If it does not, we will not adopt it. John, these angels have all volunteered to be part of this new program. Introduce yourselves, please.

The first angel: Hello. I am pleased to meet you. If you choose me, i will do my best to protect you.

She seems very business-like. If it were possible to do so here, you would guess she was gunning for Israfel's job. Her hair is black and cut conservatively at neck-level. She offers one hand and when you take it she shakes exactly four times. She appears the eldest.

The second angel: Hi! um, if you pick me, i'll make sure you have a very safe, comfy life! Thank you!

Her 'thank you' sounds like she had just given a report in front of her English class in school. Her hair is long and wavy blonde; her eyes bright blue. Her happy-go-lucky appearance is in contrast to the first angel's, especially her beautiful, and above all sincere, smile. She looks the youngest and like shes thinking about kissing you.

The third angel: Hello. Let me get to the point: The first person, animal or weather condition that tries to hurt you is getting FUCKED....UP!!

This one has some muscle under her flowing white robe. Even her wings are a bit more toned than the others', though they are slightly gray instead of pure white. Her hair is very short and dark brown and her eyes match. And so, you think, does her temper. She didn't even suggest there was a choice. Her skin is dark, suggesting she was at least somewhat black in life. She seems maybe 25.

The fourth angel: Hello. I-if you choose me, i will do my very best to help you with anything you need help with. Really, anything from about to fall off a cliff to your first date, anything at all, i'll help you. I'll try to, anyway.

The final angel is Japanese, petite and seems very docile, but also very loyal. Her hair is, of course, black and her eyes almond-shaped with brown irises just visible between porcelain skin. Her figure makes it hard to guess her age, but she looks about the same age as the second angel, maybe three or four years older.

John: May i ask their names?

Israfel: Unfortunately no. You can only know one of their names, and it must be the one you, for want of a better word, sample. Keep in mind that when you choose, you are not making your final decision. It is similar to dating on Earth. You are figuring out who you want, not choosing blindly.

The mention of dating made the second angel giggle. So cute...

Israfel: The reason for this is because we've found out that the name of your guardian angel is also the name of your future spouse. It is not intentional, but it does work out that way. If you were to know all of their names, the chances of you finding true love with a human woman would be nil, as no one name would strike whatever chord in you the angel's name does. For that reason, you may not ask their names until you have chosen one. Well, John? Who do you choose?

The second and fourth angels stand up straight and clasp their hands in front of them, the second seemingly trying to press her breasts together; the other simply to look humble. The first straightens her hair as the third gives you a look that seems to say 'you know damn well who the best one is, so you better pick me'.
