The EFS Odysseus Colony Ship.

Almost 60 years in the making the EFS Odysseus was begun before the tragedy of WW3, yet somehow the project wasn't even delayed. The Earth Federation continued to research, design and adjust the specifications of the first ship intended to travel beyond the edge of our star system in hopes of finding a new world in a neighboring system fit for habitation.

The ship was designed around the engine, known as a Pulse Singularity Engine or PSE. It functioned by using several mass accelerators to create small black holes that would last only moments each, but would create enough mass and gravity for the Odysseus to fall towards it. By repeatedly creating these tiny singularities the ship could be pulled into speeds that even ion rocketry couldn't match. The Odysseus would be the final proof for the Earth Federation that the limit for humanity existed at the outer reaches of the galaxy.

Since the ship was intended for colonization it was also fitted with everything that could be invented to sustain and grow a new civilization on another planet without any logistical aid from earth. The ship itself could be used as a space station for years to provide ample time for any terraforming requirements that might be needed.

There would be 2,500 adult colonists between the ages of 20-35 in peak physical and mental condition who would be transported in a stasis, and a crew of 50 who would be in stasis for travel, but would be woken by the Odysseus' Ship AI in the event that either a planet withing workable margins was discovered, of if there was a ship malfunction that required human assistance.

The library holds a digital copy of every book man has ever preserved, there is a factory capable of fabricating anything from a 19th century watch to a small building without needing to step outside, there is a complete greenhouse, a collection of several million seeds from plants on earth, and frozen embryos of a complete food chain including another 20,000 for humans. The medical facilities are the best the world can conceive, there are laboratories for every imaginable pursuit, and the luxury cruise quality living quarters can accommodate three hundred people comfortably, 600 comfortably if people are willing to double bunk (hint hint, wink wink) if ever there is a need to make the ship a full habitat.
