His face lights up at the sight of you.

“Ah, we meet again!” He says in a jolly voice, before throwing his head back and laughing.

You smile, and walk on over to join him. “Greetings. You remember me?”

He grins, tugging on the straps of his armour. He looks quite different with clothes on, more refined and handsome. “How could I forget?”

You nod, unsure of what to say. The man doesn’t seem to be suffering from the same awkwardness as you.

“We never exchanged names.” He announces suddenly. “My name is Gerand of Antrow, and I am a knight on a pilgrimage. What of you, and your journey?”

He looks at you expectantly.

“Oh. Um, my name is . . I’m just travelling, looking for work.”

“Ahh. An adventurer.” He nods solemnly, before turning his gaze onto you. His stormy eyes meet yours. “So tell me, . Where is your next destination?”

You blank. “I’ll have to look at my map.”

Gerand takes your arm gently. “There are maps in my room, if you’d wish to consult those?” His voice is lower, huskier.
