A Tubing Ride

Anna made her way out the back door of the house, and was surprised to see around thirty people milling about a few tables set up in the backyard near the dock. Most of them, she recognized as family. Others weren’t as immediate, but still recognizable to her. A few heads turned towards her, and greeted her happily. Anna soon forgot about the state of the suit she was wearing, since compared to a few other women wearing figure hugging bikinis, she wasn’t exposed much at all.

Before long, the party had finished up the majority of its usual run of activities, which signaled that it was time for Anna’s uncle David to bring out his boat for people to tube on.

Many people egged Anna on to do at least one attempt at tubing, despite her various pleas that she had no idea what to do, and the thought of moving that fast over open water scared her. Eventually, she caved in to her cousin Laura’s pressure, and agreed to do one run of tubing before she left. Nervously, she held tightly to the hand holds in the tube.

Before she knew what was happening, Anna began moving at frightening speeds, and became terrified of letting go. She began wishing she had accepted the offer for a life jacket, rather than cockily believing in her swimming ability. The boat soon turned, and Anna’s grip fell loose. She tumbled off the tube, and shot head first into the water like a torpedo.
