Back To Work

“Been dumped?” The Pastor asked out of nowhere as you packed away the cleaning gear at the end of the day.

“Why do you ask?” You shot back, more confused by the sudden interest in your personal life than anything.

“You’ve been slinking around like a kicked dog all week,” he laughed. “Hard to miss that something was going on.” He glanced around, making sure you were alone in the hallway before he added. “If you want my advice don’t let yourself get hooked on one girl. It might be fun for a little while but in the end, she’ll get stale and you’ll start missing those carefree days of feeling a new cunt wrapped around your cock every night.”

You stared at him, dumbfounded that he could be talking to you like this. Sure, he knew about you and Claire and he knew you knew about his cheating but you had hardly talked to him since you started so why was he suddenly being so friendly.

“Thanks, I’ll try to keep that in mind.” You replied lamely.

He laughed, slapping you on the back and heading off towards his office. Even though you knew you were no better than him you couldn’t help but feel a little sickened by him. At least you didn’t sneak around behind either Claire or Angelas backs as he did. You tried to comfort yourself with that line of thinking as you finished packing away for the night.

“All done for the night?”

You nearly jumped out of your skin, sending bottles and a mop clattering to the floor in your surprise as you spun on your heels to see who was speaking to you.

To your surprise it was Angela, still dressed in her best “church wife” dress. Your heart started to hammer as you picked up the little smile on her lips, something you hadn’t seen her do all week.

“Sorry,” she said with a little chuckle. “Didn’t mean to scare you. I just came to give you this.”

She held out a folded piece of paper and the moment you took it she turned and left, vanishing down the hallway and out of sight before you could even get a word out.

You unfolded the paper with trembling hands, all the possibilities of what might lie within racing through your mind at the speed of light. You had hoped for maybe an apologie or explanation of why she had been so cold to you all week. Instead, you found a single line, asking you to meet her at a local bar the following night.
