What is his plan?
Use his talents to make some money
Being able to pick up Karate Kata without having to study for years was a cool talent but it wasn't going to make Rick the kind of money he needed to take on bio-DNA corporate. Especially considering that the top executives probably all used the real thing, not the alpha version.
Back in college, Rick had been a semi-serious bridge player and he figured his bridge would be a lot stronger now with his ability to read opponents at the table as well as faster brain synapses letting him make better decisions. But to make money in professional bridge, he'd have to find a partner, work his way up the ranks of professionals, win a couple of big events, and only then find some kind of sponsorship. Then there was being a gigolo. He could probably find some older women who would pay him for sex, considering that he was now apparently pretty good at it. Again, though, it would take too long to make serious money and he'd end up spending too much time having sex with women he wasn't especially attracted to.
While he waited for the impound lot to deliver his car, he went through other options. Baseball was a possibility. His enhanced perception meant he could probably recognize good and bad pitches and connect with the good ones more often than most other players. At least he could for a little while. As far as he knew, bio-DNA wasn't a banned substance like steroids which meant he wouldn't be illegal but which also meant that a lot of baseball players would be lining up for the real thing. Considering that bio-DNA would enhance natural talent, which they had and he didn't, it wouldn't be long before he was out of a job. Other sports offered even worse prospects. Maybe he could become a pool shark. Again, his enhanced coordination and brainpower would let him calculate the vectors and hit the shots. But again, it would take too long to build the kind of reputation that would let him play in the big money games... and by the time he did, word about bio-DNA would spread and the top stars would buy their own.
No, he needed something he could make a hit at quickly, before the world learned about bio-DNA and the top players forked over their million bucks a dose. For one thing, the longer he waited, the more money the corporation would make and the harder it would be to take them down.
So, what could he do that would pay well and pay quickly?
