For the most part she enjoys her day.

By all means, Jade should have had such a fun time at the water park. The weather was beautiful and there were no lines except for a few very short ones. Jade's mom gave her permission to go as long as she was back home no later than five to get ready for dinner. And Jason agreed to hold off on whatever it was he was planning to do. But Vera and Lani, the two friends who drove with her, could always tell when something was weighing heavy on her mind.

Vera sat down with Jade while Lani went to buy a snack. Vera sat beside Jade and asked what the matter was.

"Come on, Jade," she said in a concerned tone of voice, "it's the last day of classes. You can afford to have a little fun."

Jade sighed and replied, "I'd love to, but something happened with Mike."

Vera held back a chuckle, and Jade looked at her with a deadly glare.

"Sorry," Vera explained, "but it's still hilarious to me that you could have any guy you want and you choose a guy who looks like the nerd from every 80s college movie. He's a sweet man, but I dare you to tell me I'm wrong. You're the Jessica to his Roger Rabbit."

Lani sat back down with a corn dog and a soda.

"Who are we talking about?"

Jade spoke, "Jason King is blackmailing me."

The two friends were baffled.

Lani asked, "The football player?"

Jade nodded, "He stole Mike's phone, and he wants me to do something for him tomorrow or he's going to do . . . well, he didn't say, but I don't want to find out."

Vera inquired, "Did you tell the principal?"

"I've told him so many times, it's pointless to think he'll ever do anything."

"So what are you gonna do?" questioned Lani.

"Can we help?" asked Vera.

Vera's offer to help gave Jade an idea.

"Can you help me expose him?"

The two friends looked at each other and smiled.
