Clean up and Debriefing
Blair toggled off her abilities and blinked seeing Sandro had leveled up too. "Hey, you leveled up, congratulations." Sandro looked a little confused, before looking up, she was certain he was looking at his level. "Thanks, hmm, you are only level 10? Huh, I guess your class is better at dealing damage than mine. That figures, I am more of a tank anyways." She nodded understandingly. "My guess is that it does not work that well against a necromancer without support huh?" He nodded. "I was trying to hold him off while help arrived. I had been fighting him for a few minutes by the time you arrived. Those strikes of yours were quite powerful." She blushed hearing his praise. "I am glad to have helped. What are you going to do with his things?" She moved over to Alatar's corpse and knelt down. She could see how sickly he looked, likely a side affect of whatever he had done to obtain power. "They will likely be taken in by our guild, sold, used, or put away for the good of the public." She decided to leave the party she had made with Sandro, it no longer had any benefit. She soon ran a hand along Alatar's form to see if she could find anything of value on him. "Well, could I have his car? It would be nice to no longer have to walk everywhere." She blinked having a notification pop up as her hand hit a book of some sort.
Tome of Undeath: When learned will grant the following skills.
Negative Strike lvl 1
Cost: 50 Mp
Drains a living being for an 5 damage per strike for the next 10 seconds.
Damage dealt by this ability will grant double that as health for the user.
Warning: When used against undead damage will heal the target for that amount instead.
Raise Undead lvl 1
Cost: 100 Mp
Raises one skeleton warrior to fight by your side for one minute.
Mana cost is reduced by 50% when cast upon a corpse and lasts two minutes.
Dark Siphon lvl 1
Cost: 50 Mp
Afflicts your target with this ability causing 1% health and mana to siphon to you every second for 10 seconds.
Does double against living targets.
Requires 25 Endurance, 25 Intellect, and 25 Wisdom.
Accept or Decline?
Her eyes went wide seeing all of these abilities. Sandro touched her shoulder. "Blair is everything alright?" Her hand moved back from that book and that notification disappeared. "Yeah, I'm alright." She looked to him, he had a worried expression upon his face. "Are you sure? You didn't say anything when I said you would need to ask the guild leader about the car. Did you find something?" She debated about answering, but felt it was not wise to hold this information back. "I found this interesting book on this man's body." She pulled out the Tome of Undeath, that notification popping up again for her. She offered it to him. "I could learn some valuable abilities from it." His eyes widened. "Anything learned from such a book would likely be an abomination." He took the book from her shortly after. "It has foul magic pouring from it." She sighed softly. "I see." Blair stood up, but before she could say anything else, Nora stepped into the Illusion Barrier as did a few others, they looked like underlings. "Blair!" Nora ran over to her, hugging her tightly. "Hey beautiful. See, I am alright, just like I said." She hugged Nora back tightly. "Mm, I did miss you though." Nora smiled before speaking. "Good, if you had been hurt or anything, someone would have paid dearly for it." Blair slowly let go of Nora before kissing her cheek. "Sandro has been nice to me so far, but since he is a tank, I guess he wouldn't mind taking a beating from you." Sandro lifted a brow once Blair had turned around, Nora's hands slid down and around Blair's waist, still holding her close. "I would enjoy that more from you, Blair." Sandro grinned before being hit on top of his head by Nora. "Sandro! Blair is my girlfriend, get your own." Sandro continued to chuckle. "Yeah, yeah. Lucky you, getting yourself such a beautiful and sexy girlfriend. Maybe I should steal her from you." She heard a growl from Nora. "Back off or no more healing for you!" He was almost vibrating with laughter that he was trying to hold back. "Fine, fine, don't get your panties in a bunch." She smiled softly before turning back in Nora's arms to Nora. "Don't mind him, he just likes teasing you." Nora was pouting which made Blair think she was so cute. She kissed her lips gently and Nora kissed her back. "Mm." Sandro grumbled. "Though this is a sexy sight, you two should get a room. I would probably follow to watch though." She glanced back to Sandro. "Keep that up, and my opinion of you might turn unfavorable." Sandro chuckled more. "Right, right. Enough of that, I should head back." He said while handing the Tome of Undeath to one of the lackeys. "I will allow Nora to escort you back to the manor for debriefing." Sandro started to walk off as Blair turned back to Nora. "What is he talking about?" Nora pouted. "I have been told to bring you in. You helped take down a foe for us. They want to know your intentions and go from there." Blair sighed. "I guess that is fair. Can I get that tome and the car as compensation?" She playfully stuck out her tongue. Nora chuckled. "Mm, cute, but that isn't my decision to make." Blair pouted. "Boo. Well, I guess we should get this over with."
After they left the illusion barrier, Blair and Nora headed towards the outskirts of town. Blair's eyes widened as they pulled up to a rather large mansion, it was rather impressive, surrounded by thick and tall stone walls roughly 8 feet high, the mansion itself stood 2 stories, this did not include the attic space, the roof was lovely dark shade of blue, the walls were a golden sand color. Blair could see further inside once they were allowed through the front gate. Oo, they even had a pretty fountain out front surrounded by flowers and shrubs.

(Note: I do not own this picture, this is just to help with visualizing the mansion)
Blair suddenly felt massively underdressed for this event. "They won't mind that I am dressed so casually. Will they?" Nora smiled. "Don't worry, that won't be a problem. We aren't here for a party or social gathering after all." That didn't make Blair feel better as they pulled up front. A tall and older gentleman in a butler's uniform approached the door, letting Blair out of the car and helped her out with a hand. She blinked as she took the hand gently, smiling to the man once she was on her feet. "Thank you." He bowed his head slightly to her. "It is my pleasure madam." He moved to head to the driver side of the car and helped Nora out in a similar fashion before another attendant came out to take the car to the garage. Blair was a little in shock, this was her first time seeing anything like this in person. Nora smiled to the butler. "Thank you, Henry. Is my father ready to see us?" Blair felt a little faint, Nora's father!? Oh fuck, this is too soon in the relationship for that. Blair's mind was starting to race as Henry nodded. "Yes, he is in his study, my lady." Nora nodded. "Please, let him know we have arrived and will see him shortly." She said before walking over to Blair. Henry bowed slightly, "Of course, my lady." He soon headed inside. Nora sighed softly before saying. "I had hoped to wait until later for this, but I can't delay it now. Ready, Blair?" Blair sighed, feeling slightly overwhelmed. "As ready as I can be under the circumstances."
Nora took Blair's hand gently and walked inside with her, the entryway was quite stunning, a beautiful chandelier hanging above the staircase just in front of them, a hat rack was just to her left and an umbrella stand to its right. Nora led the way up the stairs and to the right, a door on the left was the one Henry was just stepping back out from. "He is ready to see you both, my lady." He bowed slightly, opening the door for them. "Thank you, Henry." Blair simply listened and smiled, following Nora into the room. She heard the door close gently behind them. A young looking gentleman with quite the air about him was sitting behind a large wooden desk, several chairs were in front of it, he was writing something down, soon laying his pen down, smiling to them. "Ah, this must be the infamous Blair. Please, have a seat. My daughter has said many good things about you." He looked to Nora. "I am glad to see you are well my sweet." Blair sat down as did Nora. "Yes, father, it is good to see you are well too." Blair's hands nervously resting upon her lap. She decided to use observe, but was surprised with the results.
Observe:
Failure, target is too high of a level.
"I am Zane Harper, Leader of the Balance of Fate, and Nora's father." He was a handsome man with intense, icy blue eyes, and light brown hair that was all combed back neatly, his face was clean shaven and amazingly youthful. He looked like he was twenty years old, give or take a couple years. She almost felt like she was being punked. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Harper." He chuckled softly. "Please, call me Zane, or well, since you are so close to my daughter, perhaps dad would be more suitable." Nora quickly chimed in. "Father!" Zane smiled. "Well, for now Zane is fine. There is however, the matter at hand before family matters." Zane pulled up a sheet of paper from a drawer to his left and looked it over. "This report brought to me by Sandro states you were the one to kill Necromancer Alatar, is that correct?" Blair nodded slightly. "That is correct. Sandro was distracting him, allowing me the opportunity to kill him before he could cause any more harm." Zane smirked. "It also says you were quite interested in the tome found on Alatar's body. I am curious. Why is that?" Blair's eyes widened, crap, figures her desire for more abilities and power would get her into trouble. "Ah, yes, well with it I could learn how to better handle myself. I am new to the Abyss after all." Zane smirked. "It has been a long time since I have spoken to someone so honest. Well, who didn't work for me." He looked to Nora. "I have heard you would also like that car that belonged to Alatar. I will give you a choice. You can have the tome, or that car. Choose wisely." Blair felt like this was a trap of sorts. She looked to Nora, who looked more worried than usual. "If you will allow it, I would like the car. That tome had given me a creepy vibe." She said looking back to Zane, who smiled. "I see, quite wise. Looking at the long term versus the short. That will keep you alive." He reached into another drawer of his desk, this time on his right and pulled out a fob, sliding it across his desk to her. "My men are cleaning it out for you at the moment, but it should be ready by the time we are done here." Blair took it gently and smiled. "Thank you, this means a lot to me." Zane smiled. "Think nothing of it. You have done us a great service and have been making my daughter happy." A new exclamation flashed that she ignored for now.
Zane coughed gently then. "Now that, this matter has been concluded, I will move onto another important matter." Blair blinked, but tilted her head slightly to listen. "My daughter has informed me that you have only had your abilities for a short time, is that correct?" She nodded gently. "That is correct, this is my second day of having them." Zane's eyes widened before relaxing. "Wow, and already taking down a decently powerful necromancer too. With this in mind, I would like to hire you. You would be signing a simple contract stating that we would be hiring you as a contractor, using your abilities for us for a reasonable price. All matters of official business would be confidential. You may of course talk about them with my daughter unless explicitly told otherwise." Nora leaned over and whispered into Blair's ear. "Wow, he must be really impressed. I have never seen him do this before." Blair blinked before smiling to Nora, not wasting a moment as she looked back to Zane. "Will I only be useful in combat?" Zane smiled. "Quite clever, I like that. No, though I am certain you do not wish to disclose all of your abilities to us, I would like to learn more about them. I am certain some of your talents are valuable in other ways." Blair nodded slightly. "I see, well I have recently acquired an ability to destroy objects to their base components." Zane quirked a brow. "Fascinating. Well, I will leave it at that for now." He pulled out a contract from another drawer in his desk and slid it across to her. "It is a rather minor magical contract. It will also provide you the standard protections of our guild, both on and off duty." She gently took it and looked it over for loopholes or other such matters. A notification popped up when she touched it.
Balance of Fate's Contract: Signing will grant the following.
Pros:
- Reasonable pay for services
- Protection from enemy forces
- Access to the Balance of Fate's Mansion
- Permission to Attend Official Matters of the Balance of Fate
- 10% price reduction when buying from associated vendors
Cons:
- Minor monitoring from a distance
- Extra on the call work
Well, this was different, but it didn't seem so bad. "So, I will be monitored from a distance and might be required to answer my phone even if I am in an illusion barrier?" Blair asked. Zane nodded and said. "Yes, but you will be compensated for it. There are bonuses for coming in at a late hour, during another job, a normal job, or while out on a date with my daughter." Blair nodded after hearing that, but felt it strange that a date with his daughter was included. "My phone doesn't work in illusion barriers. I am not sure how to fix that." Zane looked to Nora. "Be a dear and have Henry fetch one of our dimensional chips. After you both leave this room." Nora nodded. "Of course, father." Blair thought a moment upon that, it did make sense that if they knew our dimensional frequency that they could focus the signal to relay back to our realm. "Thank you. I do have one more question, will the plates and color stay the same for my new car?" Zane shook his head. "It will be updated with new plates and a different color. I hope a royal blue would be to your liking." Blair smiled. "That is acceptable. Thank you very much. I guess once I sign this, it will end this current matter?" Zane smiled. "Yes, I assume it is to your satisfaction. Oh, and it is possible to be broken at anytime you aren't on assignment without penalty, but you really do not wish to ever find out what happens if it is broken while on assignment." Blair swallowed gently, Zane had looked quite serious as he spoke even with his cheerful tone. This was one man you did not want to mess with, of that Blair was sure. She took a pen and soon signed the contract and a new exclamation flashed, she let it pop up with the previous one.

Blair let out a breath before smiling and handed the paper back to Zane. "I look forward to working with you all. It will be nice not having to worry so much about Nora." She glanced to Nora who was blushing. Zane took it and looked it over before nodding. "As do I, Blair Mitchell."
