Dreams in the night.

The night brings about a dream that seems to be of yourself going on some grand quest to save the universe. In this quest you are chatting with someone who seems to be wise beyond the knowledge of mortals and you ask them what the girl meant about becoming your true self. They tell you that during the first twenty four hours or so a person that has magic in them can usually transform their bodies into the form that they have always secretly seen themselves, if that differs from what they have become. For most it simply means a return of youth and vitality as often older people are able to tap into their inner magic in the normal world to at least find a gate here. Once here they use that power subconsciously to return to the age when they were most virile and happy. After the initial time their bodies are accustomed to the energies here and they resume aging normally. Of course with magic most anything is possible, and most age far slower than before, are less prone to getting fat, more resistant to diseases and the like.

The wise one eventually asks, “Why? How do you picture your true self?”

With that question an image appears in your head and when your eyes snap open and you wake up, you jolt upright, look down, and see.
