Chapter 2 by otzchiim otzchiim

What should he do?

Go to the dance.

His last girlfriend had told him a couple of weeks before that she was not interested in him anymore, so he couldn't take a date to the dance. But maybe there would be a girl in a similar situation there, or thinking of getting that way. (Or her boyfriend was, for that matter.)

The second or third person that Martin saw when he entered the old church building was Carmen Gonzalez, who had worked for a while as a temp where Martin did, a year earlier. He had tried to date her, but she turned him down, saying that she was very happy with the man she was dating.

Martin saw that man pick her up once, and he was not sure if that was the same fellow who held onto her arm tonight. He thought not, but he was not about to ask.

He greeted Carmen, and was suddenly glad that he saw her when she responded with, "Oh, Martin, meet my sister Lisa," and continued by saying to her, "I danced with this fellow at an office Christmas party, and he's pretty good at it. You should be safe with him for a while, as long as you stay in plain sight."

"Thank you," Martin said. "I prefer to be thought of as only +fairly+ safe."

Lisa smiled at that, and his eyes glanced from her cute face, as Carmen and her date moved away, down the long green crepe de chine dress, past two nicely rounded breasts to a small waist and a pair of legs that he suddenly wanted to get between.

They talked, and danced when the music began, and talked more. They hit it off well enough that as the evening went on they talked far more than danced, on the pew benches and at the punch table and on the grounds outside.

He was tempted to grab Lisa and give her a tongue-kiss to get things started.

Should he?
