Blame the or yourself?
A little of column A, a little of column B.
"Look, I wasn't as drunk as you seem to think." You mumble, afraid of what she may think. Melody cocks her head and raises an eyebrow. "Yes, I was a little intoxicated and my judgement was probably impared slightly, but I was still consious of my actions." Melody lets out a little gasp. "I could have and should have stopped this. But I couldn't bring myself to do it." You stare at the floor. "I am so sorry."
"Jack..." She starts and you look up at her slowly. At first her eyes lookd like she was actually considering placing all the blame on you, but they changed quickly. "No. I'm not going to place the heat on you. You're my best friend and I know you would never purposely take advantage of me." She looks at you earnestly. "I think you were drunker than you admit."
"But..."
"No. I refuse to let you take all the blame." She said, sitting up.
"You were drunk!" You rant wildly, you guilt complex refusing to let it go. "I practically **** you!"
At that comment, Melody glared angrily and grabbed your collar. "Don't you dare say that, Jack. We were both drunk, we both agreed to sex. Bad decision or not, I consented. I was the one throwing herself at you, remember? I had to fondle you for you to agree to it." Her cheeks turned crimson, but she kept her face straight. "You. Did. Not. **** me. Got it?"
"Yeah." You respond weakly.
"Good." She let go of your collar. "I don't want to hear anymore of that nonsense."
"So...what do we do now?" You ask. "I mean, where do we go from here."
"I...I don't know." Melody admitted. "What happened last night was...well, it was a big thing. I don't think we can just ignore it."
"This isn't going to ruin our friendship, is it?" You ask worriedly.
"I don't want it to." She says, her voice registering sadness. "But it's definetly going to be different now."
"Damnit." You sigh. You both stay in silence for a few more minutes before Melody finally speaks up again.
"Umm...Jack? This is something I never told anyone before, but..." She is cut off by a sharp rapping on the door. You look at Melody and she guestures for you to answer it. You walk over and twist the knob, opening the door.
