Chapter 7 by Myocastor_Coypus Myocastor_Coypus

Do you continue tormenting the hapless lovers, or move on?

Move on

You freeze time one last time, exit the apartment, go down the stairs, and out of the building completely. You walk right back across the city and keep it frozen until you reach home. The trip wears you out, allowing for a little sleep. You kept the world in stasis for that long precisely so that you could have more shut-eye time, and be less out of sync tomorrow. Only once you've gotten changed for the night and are about to turn out the lights do you let loose the normal flow of things. It's around 2 am.

It's the next day. Your alarm wakes you at 06:45. You shut it off and set about getting up. You wonder why you're so sleepy, and then promptly remember the events of the night. Still half-awake, you worry that you might have frozen time again, and look toward the window where the shutter is still rolled down. You go and pull it up a few inches. It's dark outside. There are lampposts active again, which means it must be early morning. Relieved, you sigh and carry on.

Today is sociology. All day. For three hours starting at 8 o'clock is the lecture in the hemicycle. For two hours from 1 pm is the in-class study session. The first is the same for all in your year, the other is in little groups. It's incredibly dense and boring. Or at least it is when you haven't slept adequately, and you haven't slept adequately.

The day sort of slogs by with you wallowing in a semi-coherent funk. You resort to recording your lecture on your phone rather than to type it out. You get through the study session fueled entirely by lunch. When you get home around 03:20 pm you flop back into bed. Later you eat something. Then you sleep.

You have made no use of your power all day. Are there consequences?
