The others wake up

As the night went on you made your rounds. Ensuring everyone was alert while a timer counted down how long it would be until your sub-commanders would be up. Despite all the action during the day, the night was quiet.

Finally, your timer hit zero, it wasn't an exact science but you could see signs that they were starting to wake up. You turned around to complete another circuit of the camp when Amelia woke up. You knew it was her by the rather colorful way she did it.

"FUCK! Holy shit! What the lit cigar assfucking happened?" She exclaimed as she rushed to her feet, looking around wildly before visibly relaxing as she saw she was still in friendly hands.

"Well as you can see we managed to hold the line. It would have been easier though if you hadn't gotten yourself shot playing the hero. What would Nicole think if something had happened to you?" You asked.

Amelia flinched at the mention of her wife. "You know it had to be done. We were getting smashed. I can see that we've barely got anyone still on their feet." She said, pausing for a second as if listening. "Why do I hear moaning?"

"After we picked off the bots we managed to track down their creator." You quickly explained the rest of it and Amelia nodded appreciatively as you told her about the acquisition of the platoon's new source of stress relief.

"Glad to hear you aren't entirely useless without us. What's our next move?" Amelia asked, her smile taking the bite out of the statement.

"We're going to be moving through the hills tomorrow. As you've already had a lovely nap you get next watch." You said. "Get the engineer to work on repairing our suits and make sure everyone doesn't try to mob our new slave at once. We need at least a few folks paying attention to what's outside"

"Yes mom." Her eyes rolling as you told her how to do her job. You rolled yours as well as you left to find your sleeping spot for some shut-eye. Tomorrow would be a busy day.
