Chapter 56 by Yelawolf Yelawolf

You...

Go back to work

You are looking at the bowl, trying to estimate your total, when a man approaches the booth.

He looks to be in his forties, but he hasn't aged well. He's about 5'9" with a puffy face and belly. He tries to disguise his thinning brown hair with a comb over and fails badly. His suit looks to be of a cheaper cut than the high end ones you've seen today, although it does appear to be fairly new.

If he's got something going for him, it's definitely his eyes. They shine with confidence and energy. You find yourself drawn to look at them as he walks up to the booth and throws out a hand for you to shake.

"Ron Myers, casting agent," he says, shaking your hand with a firm grip.

"Debbie," you reply, returning his shake.

"Debbie, I'm just going to come out and say this: I think you have what it takes to be a star. I could see it from all the way across the room."

You screw up your face in skepticism, "What, like a movie star?".

He points and you and nods vibrantly, "Exactly! Exactly! A movie star. There's a charisma about you. You're wasted in a place like this. I want to get you in front of a camera so that the whole world can see you." He moves his hands to frame your face as if he were setting up a shot.

"Um, I don't even really know anything about acting," you protest.

"Oh, don't worry about that," he says, patting your hand and then leaving his sweaty hand over yours, "acting is the easy part, you'll pick that up on the job. No, the hard part is the energy, the aura. You've got to be born with that, and baby, you've got it!"

You
