Chapter 5
by Turtlerock
Did Link accept the job proposal?
Yes, he did
Link took a deep breath, looking at Malon and giving a nod. Link was kind of **** for cash, and it wouldn't have been so bad working for someone who was a cute as Malon was.
"--I nearly forgot to tell you my own name," Link said, "My name is Link, I've been a traveling swordsman for quite awhile, and this is my first time around these parts."
Malon held out her hand to be shook, and Link happily obliged to the gesture. However, upon shaking her hand, something strange happened. It was like he was suddenly sucked somewhere else. Everything was blurry, but he could make out some sort of stable, and what appeared to be someone similar to himself helping out what seemed to be a younger version of Malon. Moments later, Link was warped back into his own reality, stumbling backwards, with his hand free.
"Are you okay, Link?" She asked curiously. She had a tinge of concern within her voice. She didn't know Link that well, but he didn't seem to be a bad person, so she was at least being genuine.
"Yeah.. I'm uh.. I'm fine," he replied. He wasn't quite sure what that was, but it felt so surreal. He's never had anything like this happen before. "When can I start?" He asked.
"Right now! I want you to go upstairs and prepare all the empty rooms for guests, I'll be out here doing everything else with more stuff to give you when you're done with your first task." She wasn't going to go easy on Link just because he was just starting off. She had quite the long list of things to get done, and an extra hand was incredibly helpful.
Link nodded. "May I leave my stuff down here? It would be silly of my to bring it with me."
Malon nodded, and Link placed all his stuff behind the counter in the corner. After that, he immediately went upstairs to go clean the rooms, and prepare them for more guests. It was more of an inn than a tavern, but Link didn't care about that at the moment. It didn't take him to long to set up the rooms, and he just kept working all day, doing various tasks, serving customers, cleaning tables. He was trying to earn a good paycheck.
Soon it was night, and the tavern part of the inn was closed for the time being. Malon was upstairs in her room, and Link had recieved eighteen more rupees for one day of work so far, making his total thirty. There wasn't much more he could do right now, but he could go check up on Malon, try to rent a room again, go to sleep outside, or do something else
How does Link spend his time during the night?
