My rival is a GIRL

Considering that you spent your entire life dealing with her on a daily basis, you tell the PROFESSOR with absolute clarity that his grandchild is, in fact, a girl.

"Truly? Hmm, that's odd. I hope I'm not going senile just yet," he replies with a frown.

Of course, at that moment he realizes that he doesn't remember his granddaughter's name. Before he can even get off the first syllable, you answer his question and give him your rival's name.

"That's right! I remember now! Her name is BLUE!"

Suddenly, BLUE fades out, leaving you and the PROFESSOR alone with the great white void.

"RED!"

He faces you with an intensity and a passion that's almost uncomfortable. Still, he manages to keep it outside the realm of creepy. You find yourself hoping he's not usually this excitable.

"Very soon, your very own POKéMON legend will begin to unfold!"

You must have looked confused, because OAK simply chuckles to himself and answers a question you didn't ask yet.

"You've already been walking this path for a long time. Even now, you're walking it. It's alright if you don't understand yet. As long as you stay true to yourself, then that's all that really matters."

For all that the man tried to sound wise and profound, you're only left with more questions. You don't get the chance to ask before he suddenly shifts gears, going back into that wildly excited state that almost causes you to take a step or two backwards subconsciously.

"A world of dreams and adventures with POKéMON awaits, RED! Let’s go!"

Without warning, your body is suddenly covered in white light, but there's just enough of a contrast between you and the world around you that it's still possible to see your hands in front of your face. However, soon you find that your hands, or perhaps your perception of them, begin to shift and change in front of you. The sensation is not limited to just your hands, however. Your entire body feels like it's shrinking and shifting in ways that, while not painful, are nonetheless uncomfortable.

You do not have long to ponder the changes affecting your body, because your consciousness begins to fade rapidly. You are asleep within minutes.
