Monitor

Somehow 6T9's access of a repaired memory data section had triggered the service routine, but after a lengthy search of this control room, you were no closer to figuring out how the underlying system operated. Maybe the odd boxes and junk in the room might hold a clue? As you began to take a closer look, you spotted something you'd missed. Pushing aside more of the boxes, you eventually found another control panel with a console display that was blank aside from a glowing symbol which seemed to slightly increase and decrease in brightness over and over. Taking a closer look, you soon realized the frequency of its pulsing intensity was in sync with the appearance of each new instance of 6T9's service routine.

The control panel looked antiquated compared to the other interfaces, consisting of little more than numbers and a few other symbols. Your best guess is that it was similar to an old-fashioned keypad found in ancient Earth devices called calculators or telephones, but its purpose here wasn't clear yet. One of the control symbols translated to "Suspend". Maybe this could stop the service routine from activating? With no other obvious options, you decided to press it.

In response, the door closed from where 6T9's naked service avatar had kept appearing, and the display that had previously been showing its corresponding counter went blank. Most of the other consoles seemed to freeze as well. Meanwhile, the nearby console showed a new set of symbols, and the controls had updated to show different options as well. After some further investigation, you deduced that it was the primary interface to 6T9's internal monitoring system.

Eventually, you tracked down the portion responsible for overseeing memory access as well as a record of recent accesses, including the one that had triggered the service routine. You also found an option to edit the functions, and added a new exception to the memory access check which would allow the new identifier that 6T9 added for lost memories to be recognized as valid instead of invalid.

Before selecting the resume option, you briefly scanned through the other record logs in case there be any other issues. Everything appeared to be in order, except for one conflicting set of parameters. There was a selection called "Optimize" which showed that the function was set to "Disabled". However, a nearby status message indicated "Optimization In Progress". Even more strange, the start time of the current optimization had begun almost two years ago.
