The ninjas of the academy all congratulate you on your victory over Janine, both as a trainer and as a kunoichi. They show you to the back entrance, explaining that the front entrance will be occupied as the rest of the academy conducts some “special training” with Janine. You’re not sure what that means, but you don’t ponder it much as you thank them, exit, and close the door behind you. Hmm, what’s this…?

You spot a paper stuck to the back door, which seems strange until you remember the ninjas saying that nobody uses this entrance. It’s none of your business, but you decide to read it anyway.

‘To my students, my peers, and my daughter Janine,

Today, in the dead of night, I am leaving. I have watched the paths you all walk, and I am proud beyond measure of the people you are all becoming. As I grow older and my skills decline, I must confront the fact that I am now stifling your skills, rather than acting as a fan to the flames. I wish to see the blaze of your lives burn as brightly as possible, and this simply will not happen as long as I am here.

Until this point, I have acted as both the Master of the Ninja Academy, and the Gym Leader of Fuchsia City. I wish to split these positions. Janine, my daughter, will be the new Gym Leader. Her skills as a trainer are quite impressive, and I’ve no doubt she will continue the gym’s legacy as one of the most challenging in all of Kanto…’

So, Janine wasn’t even supposed to be in charge of the academy, huh? Well, having no clue what she was doing didn’t stop her from trying. And it doesn’t sound like she’s giving up anytime soon. That’s kinda cool, you guess, but overall you’ll be happy to leave the pushy “senpai” behind. You have your own path to walk, and now, you’re one badge closer to the finish line.
