Rematch time

You’ve trained Onix the past few days, eager to come back and show Janine that you’re a better trainer than you are a ninja. Of course, you started by calling Professor Stump to ask what this super-cool Rock pokemon is capable of. Not only is Onix really tall, but it can also chuck rocks, putting an end to your weakness against things in the air. And it’s about time, too. Why didn’t you think of this sooner?

You almost walk inside, but you’re reminded of the many traps waiting for you. Rather than risking your luck a second time, you knock on the door. Whoever answers will have to deactivate them first, right? At least, that’s what you think.

“KOGA!!!” delights a scuffed-up Janine, latching onto you immediately. “You’re finally back! Now you can… You…” She slowly pulls back from the hug and looks at you. “You’re Emilia.” After pausing for a second, she goes right back into the hug. “This also works! You’re back to join the Ninja Academy, right? I’m sorry I was so hard on you before. We all have room to grow, right? My kouhai is going to grow into a splendid kunoichi!”

“I, uh… I’m here for a rematch. Just pokemon battling. No ninja stuff.”

She steps back and stares at you blankly. “Oh. Right. Duh. Obviously. OBVIOUSLY that’s what you’re here for. *ahem* So once you lose again, you’ll join the academy, right?”

“I don’t intend to lose. I’ve been training, and this time you don’t stand a chance!” you declare.

“Then it’s decided! You’ll lose and then join the Ninja Academy as my pupil! Gonna be a senpai ♪ gonna be a senpai ♪ gonna make Koga proud~♪” she sings as she leads you back to the battle hall. You wonder… is it possible that Janine has some daddy issues to work out?
