Chapter 4 by Caelum83 Caelum83

Now what?

More trouble for Misha.

In the alien tardigrade and moths’ natural habitat they too had a symbiotic relation. On their homeworld, there used to live a species who had a somewhat similar procreation system inside as human females have and the parasitic tardigrades used their womb like features for their own procreative needs. But when a meteor collided on their planet, spreading a dust that was deadly for the “womb” baring creatures, the tardigrades lost their means of procreating too. Because the “womb” baring species were also faster than the tardigrades, the later had formed the symbiotic relationship with the moths. The moths helped the tardigrades with procreation and the moths could feed on the nutrients of what would be pushed out on birth besides the tardigrade offspring, strengthening their own offspring in the process.

Misha, fearful of what this next thread would do, saw the moth fly straight at her and started running. She jumped of ledges and ran through small trenches and then saw a small cave where she might be able to hide in. When sitting inside the cave, she couldn’t hear the fluttering anymore, and sighed with relief, though trembling all over at the thought of all those strange creatures. Sitting still and concentrating on sounds, Misha suddenly felt a soft sting in her left shoulder and then felt something tickling on her back. She ran out into the light and swiped her hand over her back, hitting something big. When she looked back, she saw a moth on the ground, crawling onto it’s feet.

She still felt the small sting fading fast and started to feel a bit dizzy. “What did it inject me with? Is it poison? Does it want to kill me?” Misha tried to think clearly. She shook her head to try and clear her mind and moved further up the trail. Just as she wanted to run around a corner, she encountered another moth. As quick as she could, she dodged backwards, but the felt a sting in her right arm from a moth that had followed her from behind. She turned around fast, but then the other moth stung her in her left thigh. “Fuck!” she thought as she kicked and slapped around her, trying to keep the moths at a distance. Then she saw the tardigrade crawling up the trail and knew she had to move.

Does she get far?
