Chapter 20

Does she make it without being seen?

Yes.

Luckily, the people in the car were too occupied to notice the undressed blonde dashing towards them in broad daylight. Jessica raced across the field and took refuge behind the back of the grocery store. Actually, not quite. There was a black chain fence surrounding the entire plaza, even taller than the one at her school. It was put in place to keep out wild animals but was now punishing this scantily clad teen with an even more humiliating ordeal.

Jessica thought about following the fence and going around the plaza. She could see it was feasible for a couple of feet but beyond that, the forest and underbrush grew too thick to keep walking alongside the fence. Jessica would have to move further out_ which, of course, risked losing her direction.

On the other hand, Jessica could cross directly across the plaza. If she went to the right, the fence ended with the sidewalk leading into the plaza. This place was a relatively small suburban plaza; Jessica thought she could probably sprint across in less than 5 minutes. The risks of this path were obvious. Clear visibility to every person commuting in the plaza.

What does Jessica decide to do?
