Chapter 19
by
Not Bob
How should Nate and Ben proceed?
“Confront” Chelsea with just Nate
“I want to trust Chelsea on this. I’ll talk to her myself.” “And what do I do?” Ben seemed to be eager for a mission. “I don’t know. Just do research or find something to do. Don’t do anything stupid.” Fine, but I want to hear what happens at Chelsea’s.” You already have Chelsea’s number and considering how long you’ve known her you figure she won’t mind a random visit so you just give her a quick text asking if you can stop by. After a minute or two she responded “sure! Just give me a text when you get here.” All you needed to hear.
You get into your black work truck, drive over, and after a few minutes, pull up to a pretty swanky middle class suburban home. Yellow paint coated the outside. Jeremy got it cleaned every few years. Loved keeping up appearances. Flowers lined around the front. Daisy’s and roses were all you could recognize. But there were several more. You could see one of the windows to the kitchen. Chelsea passed by every few moments. Might be looking for when I pull up. Best not keep her waiting. You text Chelsea letting you know you made it. “Come on in!” Heh, she’s always seemed so cheerful to see you. Makes you really appreciate what you two have. You walk right through the front door. The interior was prim and proper. Pictures of Chelsea and Jeremy throughout the years were peppered along the walls and various decor. A huge tv was put right in the middle of the living room in front of you. To your left was a bathroom and the stairs that went above it to the second floor. That’s where Chelsea , Jeremy, and Sam slept. You help Jeremy and Chelsea move their furniture in and out of their bedroom from time to time when they need it. And you setup Sam’s bedroom a long time ago. Oh god, you didn’t even think about her being there today. “Nate, I’m in the dining room if you’re lookin my for me.” Chelsea yelled to the right of you down a hallway. “Oh sure, I was just uh getting a tissue from the bathroom. Is Sam here today?” “No, she had detention after school. Missed too many assignments, so don’t feel too bad” You follow the voice down the hall into the dining room and there she was.

The first thing that hit me besides the beautiful statuesque figure in front of me was the smell of vanilla in the room. It was incredibley strong. Chelsea, however, made a bigger impact. Her polka dot dress went well with her smooth and sexy legs. She was wearing some make-up and earrings. You could see an empty wine glass at the end of the table. “Well don’t just stand there, how are you dear?” “I’m doing just fine today, thank you.” “Well that’s good. Did you want anything to eat? I’ve got some food on the stove?” She is always so sweat. “Nah, that’s ok. I uh did have something I wanted to talk to you about?” “Oh, what is it?” “It’s something with work. I’m not sure how to ask though.” Oh no, did something happen? One of the new workers?” “Nothing like that. Look, it has to do with Jeremy.” “Jeremy? Is he in trouble? Did you two get in a fight?” Ugh, you really didn’t think about this. Should I tell her the whole thing? Or maybe just mention you heard the phone call yourself? Might be better to just say you heard Jeremy mention money problems. See if she has any clue what’s going on.
