Cleanup

While waiting for Tawny to arrive, you surveyed the mess. The entire floor in this section of the hall was currently covered by at least a centimeter (0.4 inches) of water, and it didn't seem to be running off. As you looked each way, you saw that the square floor sections at each intersecting hallway had risen about ten centimeters (four inches), forming a barrier which prevented the water from flowing out into the other hallways. Above both intersections, a warning symbol was displayed, alerting anyone coming this way of the circumstances. Apparently, this was what MPAD-24 meant by the water containment protocol being activated. It was a simple, yet ingenious way to handle this type of situation.

"Drain activation is part of an automated system."

"The automated system for drain activation is available to Skylar Furton", replied the machine

"Well then, activate it," you ordered.

MPAD-24 moved closer to the wall and suddenly the hallway floor began to tilt slightly upward at both outer ends to help channel the water from each direction toward the middle where a set of small holes opened near the bottom of each wall. The collected water slowly began to lower as it ran out. It was working, but the progress was slow. As you watched the water slowly drain away, you felt the pressure in your abdomen increasing. Something else needed draining too, and soon.
