He's a wealthy merchant, veiled in a black cloak so no-one will see his face. The smell of his bath oil gives him away. I sit and sip my ale while he tells me his story.

Sounds like he wants something stolen from the house of a rival clan. The merchant, who won't give his name, shows me a blueprint of the Grimdrop family mansion and tells me he wants me to break in there tonight. He says Lady Rinelda Grimdrop keeps a shining black jewel looted from an ancient tomb on her bedside table. It gives her good luck and he wants me to steal it.

The city of Redfathom, where we are, is built around a bustling central port. The rich folk all live in the hills on the north side of town. I know I can get over there, steal the jewel and be back before the sun is up. And the price he's quoting me is pretty good. But those family mansions can be protected by all kinds of sneaky tricks and traps. I need to think about it. Should I take the job, or look for something else?
