The Wedding, Part 1
The next week, the girls drove up to Sarah's hometown, thankfully with no auto issues. "I can't believe it's finally happening! I'm so excited!" Sarah exclaimed.
"I am too, but it's still about two days until the actual wedding. Save some of that excitement for then, babe." Jill reminded her as they reached Sarah's house.
"I'm not going to run out of excitement for you ever." Sarah cooed and kissed her lover. As they finished up, almost on cue, the Watkins all flooded out to greet the brides-to-be.
Finally, it was the day of the wedding. After everyone filed into Martin's church. Jill stood at the altar as per her choice and Sarah was walked down the aisle by her mother. Sarah fought the urge to cry tears of happiness especially when she reached Jill and saw how beautiful she was in her tuxedo she specifically requested to wear.
One everyone was in their places, Martin began a little speech. "Thank you all for joining us on this glorious afternoon. For you see, this afternoon is different to many others, this afternoon, my sweet little angel Sarah will join the sweet union of marriage with miss Jill Dillard." He paused as applause from both sides of the aisle rang out. "I'd also like to thank you all for coming here today to celebrate and bare witness to this joyous union."
With that finished, Sarah and Jill exchanged their vows. "Sarah, I had thought that I felt love many times in my life, but then I meet you and I knew that could never quite feel the same kind of love for anyone or anything else that I feel for you. Our love burns bright and will always burn." Jill proclaimed.
Now Sarah was truly feeling all choked up, but she powered on through, she could cry her happy tears later. "Jill, I thought that I had my entire life thought out before we meet, but then you changed my preconceived notions in the best way possible. Each day I love you more and more. Our love is like music and a chorus, it builds upon each other and becomes stronger and more beautiful because of it." Sarah finished.
Once they had finished up their personal vows, and gotten the rings from adorable little blonde ring barer, Martin led them through the traditional vows. "Then I now pronounce you wife and wife. Jill, you may now kiss the bride." And with that, Jill removed Sarah's veil and Sarah couldn't help but think that she finally got her prince(ss) charming.
The two sealed their marriage with a kiss as the whole church erupted into thunderous applause and cheering.
"I once again thank you all for coming on this day and seeing Sarah and Jill becoming Mrs. Sarah and Jill Dillard-Watkins. And now I'd ask you all to join us in the reception starting in one hour, directions are in the pamphlets you all received." Martin informed as the now married couple made their way out through a light shower of rice.
Sarah was awestruck. It had finally happened. She was a wife now and had taken her partner's name. It was everything she ever dreamed of and more.
