A surprise

"Surprise~," shouts the whole village as you stepped into a sparsely decorated but festive village center. At the center of the room, there was a table of food and drinks whose centerpiece were two identical cakes with "Congratulations!" written on the in bright red piped lettering.

"Congratulations," remarked Khayone, stepping up to shake your hand before pulling you into a strong hug, "I've always known that you had greatness in you. Although they're no longer here, I bet your fathers are proudly watching over us from the heavens."

Pride fills you in that moment and you use all your willpower to stop yourself from being overwhelmed by emotion. Composing yourself, you manage to ask, "How did you know?"

"The doctor called me," Khayone replied, "It's an extremely rare occurrence nowadays for an Alpha to present. The pack is extremely grateful to Gaea for blessing us with two Alphas this year. We are extremely fortunate."

"Two alphas?" you asked reflexively, surprised at this certain bit of news.

"Yes," remarked a beaming Khayone, "My son, Simon, also presented as an Alpha today. He should be on his way back here as well!"

You then remembered that your best friend, Simon, was also having his clinic visit today. Having grown up with each other, you knew that Simon, like you, was not going to need to take the Daniel's Injection. But this news that both of you are Alphas was pleasantly surprising. That's just one more thing for the two of you to bond about.

Khayone then excuses himself from the festivities to go back to his office, "I'll just finish one more thing in my office and then I'll be back outside to celebrate with you and Simon. But if you want to talk to me some more, feel free to swing by my office."

After Khayone leaves, the rest of the village greets and congratulates you. You notice that Seamus, one of the more popular breeders in the village lingering a little bit longer than normal as he congratulated you. Moreover, you think that he was checking you out and was not being too subtle about it. Last time you saw him, he was headed to the bathroom.

In the background though, the kids, likely high on candy, were running around snickering, totally oblivious to what the the celebration was for.
