The event (Nikki's POV)

Nikki was to take part in a charity fashion show to raise money for homeless shelters around Los Angeles. She was fuming as she had just dyed her hair platinum blonde then had it ruined somehow by green dye, then when she tried to dye it back, all of that dye fried her hair, so she had to put on a wig. Luckily, she already had one that was platinum blonde. She had tightly pinned her real hair up and put it under a tight knit web before putting the wig on then her Miss California tiara. She had to cake on a lot of make-up to cover up the green-dyed skin on her face, ears, and neck.

She arrived at the event. Her mother Lilian and sister Charlotte were there. She then saw her step-sister Sophie with some guy. "What's _she _doing here? I thought she hated crap like this?"

"I don't know," said Lilian. "Why are you wearing so much make-up, and is that a wig?"

"I don't want to talk about it!" said Nikki.

Sophie walked up to her. "Hey, how's it going. This is Wesley."

"I thought you hated this crap," said Nikki.

"Well, I thought I'd check one out."

"Let's get some mimosas," said Charlotte. She and her mom walked off.

"So, Nikki, I heard Lilian say 'it's about time Nikki was green with envy of me.' What does that mean?"

"WHAT?!"

"Yeah, you didn't know? She's been jealous of you for years, and says she should have been Miss California when she was your age, but she got married and pregnant."

"Oh really!" Nikki crossed her arms and glared at her mom's back.

"Well, good luck," said Sophie.

"Yeah," said Wesley. "Good luck."

Nikki, who was wearing a tight red dress with her Miss California sash across it, stormed to the backstage area.
