What should I do?
I tell him that what I choose is pointless... (in my best goth voice)
A painless death or a painful death, and he expected me to choose!
“My choice is pointless since I’ll die either way. I refuse to participate in your mind game.” I told Ssakcik with great satisfaction, although you wouldn’t have known that from my cold, impassionate voice.
What the hell am I thinking? Every time I’m given a choice, why do I choose to be miserable? This is what allowed my friends to turn against me, what has made Ssakcik want to kill, and what will now cause me to have a slow painful death.
I guess it’s like the scorpion said in the fable: “I can’t help myself, it’s my nature.”
“You blasted stubborn little witch! I thought for sure the pill would make you come to your senses but I guess I’ll have to use more unorthodox methods on you.”
Wait, the pill was a trick? That means that by being ‘me’ I actually outsmarted Ssakcik!
“Wipe that stupid grin off your face! Trust me, you’re not as clever as you think! Everything up until now has been my kind method of training you.”
I don’t care what Ssakcik tells me now, I won this round and I’m proud of it even if deep down I know I still can’t win the war.
“You think you’re so smart don’t you? We’ll see about that. I can see into any number of realities you know, and once I allow you to live in a few of them I’m sure you’ll realize that being my love slave would have actually been a pleasant existence.”
Everything around me began to go black, just like they did right before Ssakcik brought me to his dimension. Before completely losing consciousness I could make out Ssakcik’s voice: “When you wake up you’ll be back on Earth but it won’t be the Earth you remember but one of the countless others. Sweet dreams my once and future pet…”
