Chapter 18

Where is the projectile car heading?
Towards the pizza joint
You quickly deduce that the large chunk of metal is heading straight for the pizza place you had been eating at only months ago. While the loss of your food would be mildly irritating, what catches your attention most is the girl who served you, who remained on the balcony and was almost guaranteed to be hit when the car finished flying.
It’s a massive pain on your body, but you use your remote gun to “skip” yourself several minutes ahead of everyone else. Like fast forwarding through parts of a movie, you effectively move to the part where you already ran the distance between where you were and where you wanted to go. Thanks to the remote, you’re the only one to be effected in the area and the car gains very little progress towards its destination. The main downside to “skipping” is the fact that anything you do still happens. You still ran like a cheetah was on your ass to get there, and your lungs and legs hate you for your efforts. All you did was skip ahead to where you finished running while everything else was playing in normal time.
Still, your aches and pains aren’t permanent. But **** will be if you failed to stop the car from crashing on you and the girl you just reached. The fatigue affects you enough that most of your usual options for dealing with the matter aren’t available. You can’t outright destroy it, your powers have yet to manifest themselves in a truly offensive way. If your gun had better range, you could have “rewound” the car, causing it to go flying back to Plasmus (though Space and Time would quickly insist on repeating what just happened, so the pizza girl would still be out of luck on that).
Without a TV screen, you couldn’t just grab the girl and “surf” from one screen to another (your version of warping from place to place, as long as both points have TV's that are plugged in and have power). Indeed, your options are looking rather limited. But then you remember one of your more recently discovered applications for your broad-spectrum brand of superpowers.
“Deinterlace” gives you one HELL of a headache, but with a significant amount of effort you have been able to split object in two. Al least temporarily. Objects in motion are much more tiresome to deal with, and if you fail to hold the effect long enough the two “halves” of the object will return to normal right at the spot it would have been at before. As this point, it’s only been mildly successful as a desperation move when dodging isn’t an option.
If you hold it long enough, then both copies of the falling car will crash on opposite sides of you both. But you’ll have to let it up soon and afterwards, it will likely reform whole right where you two are standing, maybe the floor below you if you’re lucky.
You don’t have much time to work with. The car’s only seconds away from making street pizza out of you and the girl.
What will you do?
