What's next?

Coming out and butter burgers

The girls walked downstairs and into the kitchen to make their plates.

"Oh yum, butter burgers!" Sarah said happily. "Butter....burgers?" Jill asked confused. "It's a burger topped with melted butter and fresh cheese. It's a signature dish up here alongside a good Friday fish fry." Martin explained.

"Oh, that sounds really good." Jill said with a smile and took a seat next to Sarah after they made their plates.

After about ten minutes, Sarah took a deep breath and looked at Leslie and Martin. "Mom.. Dad...." she started. "Yes sweetie? Is everything okay?" Leslie asked. "Yeah, I just.... I wanted to tell you that...." she again took a deep breath. "Me and Jill are in love. She proposed to me and we're getting married." Sarah finally said, coming out to her family.

There was a blanket of silence over the table, broken by Tom giggling. "Tom, go to your room." Martin told him, sternly. "What? I didn't do anything." He complained. "Tom. Go to your room." Leslie told him as well and he did.

Once Tom got up from the table and left, the stern looks on Martin and Leslie's faces quickly faded. "Sweetie, we're so happy to hear this." Leslie said smiling. Sarah blinked in confusion as Jill held onto Sarah's hand. "I sort of figured that, you know, you two were....." Leslie trailed off "But it takes a lot of courage to come out but I'm glad you did. We both are." She said, turning to Martin, who had thus far remained silent.

"Mister Watkins, I just want to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage. It seems kinda old fashioned, but that's just how I was brought up." Jill asked. And with that, a smile unfolded on Martin's face.

"Jill, I can't wait to have you as a daughter in law. You may have Sarah's hand in marriage." Martin said, approvingly. Sarah and Jill quickly hugged and Sarah cried tears of happiness, she was so incredibly happy that her parents had accepted her.

"I'd also be honored to be the officiant. Or would you rather me walk you down the aisle?" Martin offered. The girls stopped their celebration for a bit. Sarah wiped away her tears of happiness. "We, uh, hadn't really thought that far ahead yet." Sarah admitted.

Leslie and Tara then locked eyes and smiled. "If you want, we can plan everything for you." Leslie said, jumping at the chance to organize a wedding, something of a hobby of hers. "And you should totally have the wedding at Daddy's church." Tara suggested. That had always been a dream of hers since she were a little girl.

"That sounds good. I'd be honored if you two would do the planning. And we'd love to have it up here." Jill said happily and the girls hugged again.
