Road trip

"Let's take a road trip." Julie looks at you, to see your reaction. Your reaction is one of confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, let's get in a car, and drive somewhere. Maybe drive somewhere a couple of days away. Maybe stay there for a few days, then drive back. I just feel like getting out on the road, I feel like going somewhere. I don't really want to sit here for the next couple of weeks." Julie walks out of the bathroom as she says this. You follow her out.

"Yeah, sure, OK, that sounds good, but where should we go?" You raise your voice so that she can hear you, and follow her out into the master bedroom. You sit down on the bed, and watch Julie as she rummages through her closet, looking for something to wear.

"Well obviously I want your input, but I say we drive to one of the oceans."

"One of them?"

"Yeah, probably the closer one."

"Yeah, probably."

"Then it's settled!" Julie's voice has a tone of excitement oozing through it. Julie starts yanking clothing out of the closet, and tossing it on to the bed, forming a small pile next to you. You watch in amusement. Julie steps into some underwear and shrugs on some shorts and a shirt. "Come on, let's go get a bite to eat before we go."

You follow Julie downstairs to the kitchen; on your way, Julie stops to ask the girl who answered the door to put the clothing on the bed into a duffel bag, and to pack toiletries for two. The girl scampers upstairs, and you continue on to the kitchen, where Julie prepares a nice salad. You talk about what route, exactly, you want to take to get to the ocean. You offer your car for the travelling, so Julie suggests some time on a two lane highway, to fully appreciate the convertible, and some time on the interstate highways, to "have a little more fun." You're a little curious about what, exactly, she's planning, but you hold your tongue for the time being.

You finish your salad as the servant comes downstairs with a duffel bag and a backpack. Almost before you know it, you are out the door, in your car, and on the road, driving away from the city, on an adventure.
