Chapter 11
by Narlen
Back to the prison?
Distraction
The unmistakable sounds of blaster fire broke Calvo from his thoughts. Several peals of fire were followed by the sounds of a stun pistol. The guards around Calvo tensed as the echoes of the fire fight reached them.
?Maya, Lieutenant? the Captain called quietly. As the ebony skinned Llieutenant disappeared off into the trees followed silently by the brunette, the rest of the guards moved closer together around Calvo.
Maya; the brunette guard must be a true human, or as much as anyone could be after a few hundred years with clones running about diluting the gene pool. Odd that she would take a position as a guard: clones were normally a staple of the prison system.
Another shot from the blaster was heard and soon after that the Lieutenant and Maya returned. The Lieutenant supported a small female figure in a guard uniform with an injured arm, while Maya wielded a blaster rifle. As she came closer Calvo recognised one of the guardswomen that had been sent to recover him. The petite Twelve's left arm looked like it had been hit by a blaster shot. The Lieutenant brought the injured Twelve over to the Captain.
?We found a merc scouter downed in a clearing a short distance from here, a stunned pirate next to it holding this blaster. Twelve was **** behind a tree across the clearing.? The lieutenant reported.
?Try to wake her, see if there?s has anything she can tell us, and care for that arm? Ordered the captain ?Maya, lead us to the clearing.?
The lieutenant continued to support Twelve accepting a small container from the clone twin before waving it under twelves noes. Twelve awoke with a moan of pain as the group moved on, following the Captain and Maya. Calvo was gently prompted forwards by Dragon.
The group soon arrived at the clearing, the Captain moving over to inspect the scouter and the now dead pirate, the Lieutenant carefully laying Twelve down nearby, taking the medpack proffered by the clone twin. The scouter was a basic unit, compact and light, designed to fit easily into the cargo bay of transport ship or a shuttle. It appeared to be mostly undamaged.
What does Twelve have to say?
