Pull away from Zayne

You slide your arm out of his grasp and take a step away from the horse. He looks disappointed, but only for a moment. He leans down and picks up your phone, turning it over in his hands before giving it back to you.

"That's a funny looking flashlight," he says, tucking his hands into his jacket pockets.

"It's not a flashlight, it's a phone," you say, incredulous. "Don't you have cell phones in your universe?"

"A phone?" He peers down at it again. "Oh, you mean it's a communication device? Yes, we have those. I've just never seen one so big before." He gives you a suggestive look and you feel your face heat up as you wonder if the phrase 'hung like a horse' applies to genetically-engineered whatsits. He continues, "Most humans get ocular and auditory implants by the time they start school, which allows them to see and hear each other over great distances. Furs don't have that option, of course. It would have made planning our rebellion and exodus too easy."

"Oh!" you gasp, as it suddenly occurs to you what he means by 'a new place to live' and 'exodus'. "You want to live here? With us? All of you?"

"Most of us," he says, nodding. "They're not letting any violent criminals move in, if that worries you."

"I hadn't thought of that," you say. "It's just...how many of you are there?"

He shrugs, but looks uncomfortable. "I'm not sure. Four or five thousand, maybe. I'm not exactly part of the planning commission." Something about his demeanor makes you suspicious.

"So what are you, some kind of scout?" you ask, looking him over. Except for the fact that he's a horse, he looks just like a regular guy.

"Er...not exactly," Zayne says. "I was curious about this new universe and...slipped through when no one was looking. The resistance leaders were all busy briefing the team about their mission, and nobody was watching the open portal." He shrugs again. "What was I supposed to do? Say, do you live around here?"
