Driving much too fast

His head was spinning, all John could think about was if he was living a dream or reality. Elated, the road was the last thing on his, or currently her, mind. It should have been the priority...

A few moments later John was rudely awoken from his daydream; unfortunately it was from the sound of a quickly approaching police cruiser. John pulled Danas car over, hoping that it would pass. Sadly, the cruiser pulled up right behind him and he grew concerned as an officer approached.

"'Morning Ma'am" the officer plainly stated. "Do you know why I pulled you over?" Before giving John a chance to respond the officer continued, "License, registration and proof of insurance, please".

Startled, John stared blankly at the officer, not sure how to proceed.

"Ma'am, you were going entirely too fast for this road. I clocked you back there going over 80MPH, this is a 45MPH zone. I'm going to need to see your documentation. John nodded and opened the glove box; IT WAS EMPTY! "Is there a problem, Ma'am?" the officer asked.

"I", there's a distinct delay in John's response, "I don't seem to have it in my car, I always keep it there!" That was a lie, in part. Sure, John always kept his papers in the glove box but Dana she could have kept them anywhere.

"I see, that's unfortunate" replied the officer. "I can look up your drivers license information from your license plate number, but I'm going to need your insurance card or you'll be facing a hefty fine. What's your name?"

Without thinking the clearly female driver responded, "John".

"Excuse me? Your name is John?" A shocked officer asked.

"Uh... oh, I'm sorry, I thought you asked something else. That's my... uh, boyfriend's name" he lied again. This was quickly becoming a habit and he wondered if the stress free life he so desired really existed. "My name is Dana Smith" he said assuredly.

"Well Ms. Smith, I'm going to need you to step out of the vehicle." As he pulled the now visibly distraught woman from the car he applied, too tightly, a pair of cold handcuffs and led her to the back of the vehicle. "I'm sorry to inform you Ms. Smith, but 35MPH is a felony in this county - and driving without proof of insurance on top of it - I'm going to have to bring you in. I can't even confirm you are who you say you are!" He searched the vehicle and in less than a minute he found Dana's purse. "Here is your ID right here."

"The purse, God Damnit, I can't believe I didn't look in there." Mumbled John, but the officer didn't hear it.

The officer continued, "Okay, Dana, now that I can confirm your identity you have two options" he said with a devilish look in his eyes. "You seem like a sweet girl, and you're very beautiful." John didn't like where this was going, but at this point he really had no other options. "So I can either take you downtown for booking, or perhaps we can work something else out"
