Chapter 9 by leroy leroy

What's next?

She wakes up in a bacta tank

When Trace next became conscious of her surroundings she panicked, she was submerged in something, she was breathing but she didn't know what. It was suffocating, she was trapped, she had to get out... a sedative sent her back into darkness. When she next awoke she was still lightly sedated, letting her remain calm and think through her surroundings. She was in a bacta tank, she could practically feel the gelatinous material healing her. Something must have happened after the light woman encountered her to make her end up in one. Some Republic human officers would put their favorite clones in them on a whim to make sure their holes stayed tight or to restore their hymens so that they could pretend to take their first time but Trace knew the light woman wouldn't do that to her. She realized the woman must have been a Jedi, the light was her saber.

Trace had fought alongside Jedi before. Like her sisters, she held them in high regard, while some of them were like the other Republic officers who treated the clones like they were little better than droids, those ones were the exceptions rather than the rule. The way that the Jedi had reacted upon seeing her told her that the Jedi who saved her wasn't an exception. She was obviously one of the best Jedi. She had to be. Trace's mind had mostly returned to her and the bacta had helped remove the worst effects of the chemicals but it hadn't changed her desire to meet the Jedi. To serve her. She'd already resolved to ask for a transfer to whatever unit the Jedi was a part of in any role. She'd do anything for anyone she had to. First, she had to get out of the tank.

She tried to move and felt sluggish, the fluids around her resisting her. It was still enough to get the attention of one of the nurses. A normal human rather than a clone or droid. Trace wasn't very concerned about that, the medical field tended to be staffed with those who actually wanted to help clones. While there were some who just wanted to get first crack at their healed and tight bodies they weren't in the majority. It was harder to dehumanize someone who they had personally worked to heal. In any case, the man moved in front of her tank, checking her chart on his medical tablet.

"Lieutenant Trace. You're probably pretty confused. When you came in your vital signs were highly unusual with **** amounts of droid interrogation chemicals in your system. You've only been out for a day and we've managed to get the majority of them out of your system. However, one of them was an experimental solution designed to cause you to imprint on a master when you reached slavery. We're still not sure what effect its had on you at this time so we placed you in this tank for your safety. We believe that you may have imprinted on Commander Elayne Menaraev so when you're up for it we'd like to test that theory before we risk awakening your captain. She was exposed to the same chemical and we need to know what effects it might have on her after she awakens." While medical cared about clones using them as guinea pigs to prevent harm to a 'real human' wasn't out of the equation. Still, saying she was ready meant she could get out and see the light woman. Elayne her name was. Trace felt her hands give a thumbs up. She was ready now.

How does the meeting go?
