You decide that the first step in becoming a better person is to apologize to those you hurt. Over the next few days, that is exactly what you do. The first people you contact are your family. You invite them over to your apartment. You explain to your sister and your parents what happened with your marriage. You apologize for forcing them away when you needed them the most. You tell them how disgusted you feel with yourself for what you did, but you are working on fixing yourself. Your family offers you support, glad that you are trying to make a change.

The next person that you apologize to is your former partner. You are able to convince Bridgette to talk to you in private at work. To your surprise, she apologizes to you. She explains that she had a crush on you and didn't think it through. She apologizes for throwing herself at you, and destroying your marriage. You explain that you could've left, but didn't. She wasn't the only person to blame. You share a warm hug, and agree to remain strictly platonic in the future, and try to forget about what happened between you two.

You know that Katherine still would probably not want to see you yet, so you leave her a voicemail. You give a heartfelt apology. You take responsibility for everything, and you tell her how she didn't deserve what you did to her, and that you never deserved her. You tell her that you still care for her and that you hope she can be happy, that she deserves the best partner possible, and that you were so far from that. There hasn't been a second that goes by without you regretting throwing away the greatest relationship you ever had, and you hope she finds someone smart enough to realize what they have with you.

You tell Caroline about your path. She congratulates you for taking her advice to heart and working on yourself. She invites you out drinking with some of her friends that night for a toast to your new beginnings.
