She tries to get some sleep

Luckily Zoey didn’t have any plans tomorrow to cancel, but that didn’t make the night sleep any easier. And this wasn’t just the insomnia.

‘Who was this man? When will he stop blackmailing me? And can I trust him not to just leak the video anyway? It’s not like he has anything to lose.’

Sleep did eventually come to Zoey, but not for long. She made sure she was up promptly. She couldn’t risk him getting up before her and leaking anything. She got out of bed and considered getting dressed, but she knew he would just make her strip anyway.

Sitting at her chair, she booted up her computer and stared at the desktop. No voice came through her speakers. She sat there for a few minutes, too scared to leave her laptop but nothing happened. She could feel her stomach rumbling. She could really do with eating something, and was she realistically going to sit there nude all day until the hacker got up? But could she really risk leaving?

Zoey quickly grabbed a piece of paper from a draw in her desk and scribbled a note on it.

I’ve just gone to get something to eat. Please don’t post anything, I’ll be 10 minutes max!

She positioned it in clear view of her web cam and grabbed a bath robe before heading down. No-one else was up yet so she snuck downstairs and popped some bread in the toaster. She impatiently waited for the bread to pop up, and then quickly spread some jam over the barely toasted bread before running back up to her desk.

She slammed her door shut and looked over at the laptop.

“He-hello?”

Silence.

She slowly made her way over to the laptop and tilted the screen up. Her desktop background had been changed to message.

I guess that’s reasonable. Make sure your back here at 9:30 prompt. And go and find a cucumber before you return!

What on earth did he want a cucumber for? It was currently 9:27. There was probably one down stairs but she would have to run if she wanted to find it.
