Stay and try to control yourself

You keep reminding yourself that you are being unnecessarily paranoid, so you stay where you are, hoping to learn something more.

Before long, Jeff returns with Dr. Burbank and Amy calls up the computer simulations.

“Here we see the scan of Justin’s brain at the beginning of the session. You can see that it is normal for a healthy man of his age.”

You look over her shoulder and see what is apparently your brain. You have seen pictures of brains before, but this is the first time you have seen your own.

“Here is the last image we got before he ran away,” she says, switching to another image. This one shows different colors throughout the brain, suggesting heightened activity.

“What we can surmise from these scans is that Justin is experiencing similar results to the chimpanzees in the Hotstetter experiment. Given the brain activity we are seeing here, it suggests ever-growing sexual arousal, but there is also brain activity that we’ve never seen in human subjects before. It could be an indication of awakened paranormal abilities.”

She pulled up some charts that are too complicated for you to understand. You edge closer so you can see them better and are practically touching Amy from behind. You squint to try to make sense of the screen, but fortunately Amy explains.

“The computer projects that the heightened sexual arousal will only continue to increase, and that the rising testosterone levels will likely fuel feelings of aggression and paranoia. Sexual release will subside these feelings for a while, but it looks like they still will grow progressively worse.”

You let this sink in. Does that mean you are going to go ape-shit crazy? That can’t be! But she is right about the sexual arousal bit, though. You are SO turned on right now.

“Look at these figures here,” says Jeff, stepping away from Amy and approaching the screen. “This is different that the Hotstetter data. I think we can start with this and come up with a solution that will—“

Jeff is cut off by a sharp cry from Amy. Everyone looks at her and sees that she is wide-eyed and frozen.

“Amy, what’s wrong?” asks Jeff.

“Jeff, if you are over there, and Dr. Burbank is over there, then who has their hand on my ass?”

Horrified, you look down and realize you have been fondling Amy’s ass. For how long, you don’t know — it’s as if your hand decided on its own to do this. Amy must have thought it was Jeff doing that, the whole time.

You jump back in alarm, and as you do, you back into a cart, knocking it over and sending papers everywhere. The three researchers look at the chaos, and then you see their eyes seem to refocus, and Jeff yells, “There he is!”
