Madeline decides to stay and fight off the bandits with her companions

Madeline knows that she needs to stick it out with her companions--they are her friends and the best chance the vault has is with Doctor Giles's knowledge of mechanical devices.

She takes aim at a bandit approaching Ward's flank. She fires off three shots, its a long shot and she misses. The near misses, however, cause the bandit to halt for a moment. She steadies her hand and fires off a quick double tap. One shot finds its mark and the brigand goes down with a puff of red mist at his chest. She moves to cover, some bullets pepper in front of her just as he dives to the ground. She goes to her knee and fires at another bandit.

She can see Ward is firing his rifle--takes out two bandits in quick succession then stops to reload. She readies her weapon to fire at an approaching bandit--this one wearing a bandanna--she aims, places her finger on the trigger is about to squeeze and then everything erupts in a sound of fury and whirlwind. Rock shards and sand fly all around her she feels the over pressure of a shock wave hit her body as she collides with stone. And everything goes dark.
