Outside the pool

The water is Misty’s domain, so it’s better to keep Oddish away from it. It would have a very hard time dodging if Goldeen could attack it from any direction. “Oddish, I choose you!”

Oddish emerges with some distance between it and the pool, and this time, Misty’s the first to attack. “Goldeen, use Water Gun!”

“Oddish, use Absorb!” The water hits Oddish head-on, but Oddish just shakes its leaves off and pulls beams of light out of Goldeen. Misty and Goldeen both flinch in unison as you hit her pokemon’s weakness. Misty keeps her cool, though, and issues a new command to Goldeen.

“Goldeen, stay underwater! Just use Water Gun and then get out of there!” Oddish is splashed with water and then Goldeen is completely out of sight, hidden underwater. Oddish can’t see its target and neither can you, so you’re **** to wait this out until Goldeen resurfaces.

After a few seconds, Oddish is splashed with water again. “Oddish, use…” Again, Goldeen has vanished before you could retaliate. Next time you order Oddish to dodge, but Goldeen’s attacks come too fast for it to handle. This isn’t working. Even if Oddish is strong against Water attacks, it will still lose if you let Goldeen whittle it down like this. You have to do something about its maneuverability.

“Oddish, use Sweet Scent!” Oddish shakes its leaves rapidly, and a pink cloud is created all around it while the crowd picks up into a dull roar. The cloud spills over onto the pool, coating about a third of it in pink powder.

“Goldeen, fall back!”

You hold your breath, waiting to see if Goldeen was affected by the attack before it could retreat. Several seconds later, it pops out of the opposite end of the pool, sends a blast of water through the remnants of Oddish’s cloud, and disappears back into the water just as quickly as before. Crap, it wasn’t slowed down… What good is your type advantage if you can’t even hit the enemy?

You order Oddish to move forward and use Sweet Scent again, but the effect doesn’t reach much farther than before. Meanwhile, Goldeen keeps up its routine of using Water Gun and diving back underwater. After about 3 more rounds of unreturned fire, Oddish finally faints and the crowd goes wild. Whyyyyyyy?

You scarcely manage to recall Oddish before transparent walls emerge from the floor and form a tube around you. Huh? What is this!? No wait please no! You bang on the walls as Misty gets back on her microphone again.

The crowd echoes, “Bye Emilia!” and with no more ceremony, the tube begins plummeting downwards. You’re… You’re going to be tentacle fucked again!
