Chapter 12 by SparkyMan SparkyMan

Which way does she go?

To The Tunnel

Lara surveyed the area and considered her options carefully. Going to the boat didn’t seem to giver any other advantages, other than a means for escape. The bunker atop the rooftop of the boathouse could yield some more ammo, and weapons, but it could also put her in danger of being spotted. The search lights from the main courtyard crossed at irregular intervals, making the climb up the long ladder, rather difficult. The easiest and safest option was to head down the path into the tunnel. It also made the most sense, since it would probably lead her to the jewels

Lara padded on bare feet across the wet slippery cobblestones, making her way along the moonlit path until she reached the cliff. From what she could see the dark tunnel led uphill and towards the courtyard. The pitch black hole was eerily silent as Lara stepped inside. She continued up the path a few feet until she was enveloped in the blackness. She reached for the container strapped to her arm and pulled out another glow stick. Snapping it, and shaking it, the tunnel lit up in the warm green glow.

Lara continued up the path. The walls were damp and cold. The floor was wet and slippery. Lara could feel the effects of her surroundings as she shivered, puckering her nipples, making them point the way she was heading. She resisted the urge to rub her hands over her tits to warm them, knowing full well that she’d probably end up masturbating again, wasting precious valuable time.

Finally, after what seemed like an extremely long hike, Lara came to a wooden door built into the rock’s wall. Lara pressed her ear to the thick wood, not expecting to hear anything through the thick wood. Also she didn’t expect much activity in the middle of the night anyway. Unsure of what was on the other side of the door, Lara carefully and slowly lifted the latch, quietly opening the door just enough to eavesdrop on the other side. There was not a sound to be heard, so Lara cracked the door just wide enough to peer inside. She couldn’t see much, other than the area was well lit, a torch mounted to a rock wall in her line of sight. She also felt a rush of warm air brush by her body as it tingled once again from the sudden change in temperature. Lara got the shotgun and pushed the door open, ready to use it if necessary.

There was no one there. Lara stepped into the spacious room, noting the seven other torches mounted to the rock walls, keeping the room lit from every angle. Lara shouldered the shotgun and surveyed the room. Near the center of the room was a large stone table, adorned with a bright purple, crushed velvet cloth, trimmed in gold thread. On either side of the altar were two long tapered candles within polished golden holders. In the middle of the table was an ornate golden chalice, probably used for some ritual. Surrounding the altar were five stone statues. On the far side of the room, there was another opening with steps leading further upward.

Lara considered her options: take the golden ornaments for her treasure collection, study the statues more closely, or continue up the steps.

What does Lara do?
