Chapter 3: The Reactor Deck

Marie took a deep breath, her body slumping up against a nearby wall. She had been moving with such diligence that her body was tired, even though her fight was far from over. Tapping a few buttons on her bio suit, the helmet to the suit quickly slid back, allowing the cool air of the ship to hit her face. The suit had a very stale air about it, but it was completely needed in a time like this. The hum of the mag rail was the only noise that filled the dead air, and Marie closed her eyes, listening as she drifted off.

Before she could sleep however, Sampson's voice broke the quiet silence. "Marie, your vitals are lowering. You doing okay?" His grizzled voice was both a blessing and a curse. She so badly needed to rest, but his voice also provided her sanity. She was not alone here, and that made her much happier. Groaning in frustration, Marie lifted herself back up, her helmet snapping back into place over her face."I'm good. Just needed some rest from all of this" replied Marie. Sampson merely grunted in reply, giving a few seconds of air before he began to speak again.

"You are about to arrive at the Reactor deck. The entire ship has been running on emergency power, and I cannot access any of the routine systems without the main reactor. Once you are able to fix it, we can possibly get our shuttle fixed, and get the hell out of here." Marie nodded, as she watched the tram slowly slide up to another platform. A holographic sign lit up the platform, the letters "REACTOR" gleaming in the dark. Powering her blade, Marie watched the tram doors slide open and stepped out.

As soon as she stepped out, she could feel the difference in the floor. Clicking her light on, Marie could see the ground was covered in some kind of fleshy substance. It completely covered the platform itself and creeped up the walls as well. Unable to fathom where this ichor was coming from, Marie continued on, entering the first hallway.
