She can!

The slender monster had crashed into the room with incredible agility and it immediately turned its sights on Marie herself. Its tiny arms and scythe-like arms were rapid and chaotic, searching for a target to grab onto. Aiming quickly, Marie fired off a few shots from the pistol, the bullets smacking into the creatures chest and legs.

However, these apparently had no effect on the monster itself. Marie cursed out loud as the creature stalked towards her, her shots basically being absorbed by the ashen skin with no effort. Once close enough, the beast grabbed Marie with ease and tossed her aside like wet laundry. The strength of the monster was much higher then Marie anticipated, and she landed on the grimy floor with a crack.

Her pistol basically useless, Marie scrambled to get back up. The creature stalked over her, moving quickly to attack her yet again. Marie's surgical ward RIG could only protect her so much before the light material would rib or tear. Scanning the room in a panic, Marie spotted a small surgical tool. Little bigger then a chef's knife, the tool was a small powered knife used to cut open flesh easily.

Tripping on her own feet, Marie grabbed the tool and turned to face the monstrosity before her. The surgical tool hummed to life in Marie's hand, a slight blue glow illuminating the dark room. The beam it provided was incredibly hot and would slice through flesh easily. The creature paid no mind to her weapon and moved towards her with reckless abandon.

Charging forward, Marie screamed as she attacked. Slashing and stabbing with the tool. With a few precise slices, the creature fell silent in a heap. Bloodied, tired and ready to end it all, Marie stood proudly over it's crumbled corpse. She had succeeded in dismembering the creature with the tool, and doing so seemed to actually kill it rather then wound. This would explain why body shots were ineffective.

Keeping the surgical blade close to her body, Marie readied to trek back to the tram. On the way, she would look for any security terminals. She might find evidence of her sister's escape, which would serve to give Marie hope more then anything.

Now armored and armed, Marie continued on, leaving the creature's body behind.
