What does Mindy find?
Mindy meets the homeowner.
Nothing again!
Mindy became frustrated. Did they really just leave her here like some neglected pet? She started wandering around room to room, finding no one around. There were people around earlier, she could hear them from inside the box. Where did they all go? Room after empty room, Mindy began to map out the place. It seemed the loft took up the entire floor because she could see outside the windows of some rooms and it revealed a majestic view of the city. She gathered this was the top floor or at least close to it because she couldn't make out any more building above her. Some further exploration exposed a room with a stairwell that went up to a second part of the living space. Mindy climbed the stairs and looked around.
The rooms on the first floor felt like a banquet hall with ballroom and dining area, but the upper floor looked more like a residential spot. These circled the the stairwell and had a balcony looking down to the first floor. The first room was a neatly tidied bedroom. There were no personal ammenities around to imply anyone was living there so Mindy concluded it to be a guest room. There were four of these in all, as well as two separate bathrooms interspersed between them. Mindy found nobody in any of these rooms. This left the hallway that the stairwell led up through. At the end of that hall were large master doors. Obviously leading to the master bedroom. If anyone was here, it would be in there.
Mindy turned the large golden handle on the heavy wood door. It was not locked and the door pulled out with a tug. Mindy peeked inside quickly. It was a bedroom, if a bedroom could be the size of the lobby of a hotel! Mindy stepped inside to get a better look. There was no flat wall in the room, it was a big circle. There was a large round bed to one side with curved nightstand stands nearby making concentric circles. Another concentric circle was formed by a curved shelf with counter. This broke up the room between bedroom and living space as the other side of the shelf had seating and a large curved screen television on the wall. From overhead, Mindy imagined it would look like a drop of water rippling in a small pond. This area look like it was lived in as well. Mindy found pictures and more statues and masks hung up on the walls and laid around on the furniture. She could make out another room in the bedroom and it had a light on. Someone was here!
"Hello?" Mindy called out as she walked over to the source of the light.
Mindy went in and found the walls lined with clothing. There was two levels of closets in this walk in closet and they were stacked like a library bookshelf full of designer wear. Mindy's eyes bulged at the sight of wealth. She immediately made out the name brand jackets, tops and gowns. She looked down to find equally expensive shoes laid out neatly on racks. One of the shoes hit her on the side of the head.
Mindy blinked and turned to the side, only to take the shoe's matching pair on the nose. "Ow!" she yelped.
"Get out!" cried the shoe thrower.
"Wait, no, I didn't mean to..." Mindy cried out as a hail of footwear rained onto her. She scurried out of the closet and turned to see her pursuer. It was a middle aged lady in a lavender slip and matching panties. She looked frightened and agitated, which would be reasonable to finding a gold hued woman wandering into your closet. "Let me expain..." Mindy pleaded.
"How did you get in here?" the lady demanded, brandishing a glossy red stiletto.
"I was sent by Livingstone Estate! I am part of the art piece..." Mindy explained, feeling uneasy about the explanation as it came out of her mouth.
"You're what?" the dark haired, wispy lady asked.
Mindy tried to explain herself calmly, "I was part of an art exhibit purchased yesterday at the Livingstone Estate... I'm supposed to be here for the week as that exhibit..."
Slowly, recognition dawned upon the lady, "Ah... Marvin mentioned something... I thought it was just another one of his brags. He keeps a collection of girl statues in a room, you see, one more lifelike than the next, you know?"
Mindy nodded sheepishly, "Yeah, I saw..."
"No doubt you have. That's where I had the men put you," the lady said, indifferently, "I didn't know you were alive, of course. I'm not that cruel." She smiled, not so convincingly. "But, if you're only here a week, it'll be a waste of a purchase for Marvin. He's already on his way to Argentina for business. You may as well go."
Mindy felt a chill go down her spine. If she left now, she would have failed her duties. Not to mention that she didn't have a ride... or clothes. She just wanted to spend her time here and head back all according to the plan. Maybe she could convince the house lady to let her stay.
