Chapter 2: The Medical Deck

The tram finally came to a stop right outside of the station. The Medical Deck for this ship would be huge in itself. It would be fashioned like a hospital, as the amount of people on this ship demanded it to be so. As soon as the tram doors opened, the smell of **** and rot struck Marie. Unlike the Transportation Deck, this one was badly damaged. Bullet holes riddled the walls, and blood was soaked into the metal floor. Bodies, all of them male, were heaped into a pile near one of the main security doors. They had various wounds, all of them fatal. It would seem the monsters are incredibly aggressive and kill those they get near. Marie could only hold her mouth and nose closed as she exited the tram.

Opening up comms, the captain began speaking to Marie quickly. "You are here to find a RIG and perhaps a weapon to fend off those monsters. Watch out though, they are incredibly difficult to put down. All three of us struggled to kill it before it could do the same to us. We are still working on opening this door, and hopefully we can have it fixed by the time you return." Marie nodded in response, sweat beading on her forehead. Even though she knew she had to find a RIG, she still needed to find her sister, and would do anything to find her.

Once past the security checkpoint, Marie looked at her options. The various corridors of the Medical Deck led to several different departments. Her sister was a medical assistant for a surgical ward, so Marie figured to go there first. Surgical RIGs were not as airtight, impressive or even tolerant like the others RIGs out there, but it was better then being out here in plain clothes.

Unlocking the security door leading to the various departments, Marie kept her wit about her, watching all angles to make sure nothing could sneak up on her. The dark, yellow emergency lighting made this incredibly difficult of course, and kept Marie's heart rate steady and strong. As she moved down the new corridor, several doors were available to her, leading to different departments, ranging from general medical to pediatrics. Continuing to move down the hall, she watched the signs for the surgical department.

As she passed a room, she could hear a light creaking noise as she walked by. Curiosity egged her on, but her wits told her to keep moving....

Should she investigate the noise?
