Friday

The next day was Friday. My Fridays consisted of a long lay in, walk to school for Maths, a free period before lunch, then Physics before walking home.

I woke up earlier than usual and instantly remembered last nights conversation. I wondered if Jess was just flirting harmlessly, or whether it would continue when we saw each other. I was quite anxious over the whole thing, especially as I would be sat with her for both lessons that day, so I decided to head in early.

As I walked into the common room, I suddenly realised none of my usual group were around as they didn't have a free period. Before I had chance to sit down I heard Meg shout me from the 'study room' next door. Apparently it was quite unusual to see me before maths on a Friday. I could see Jess blushing slightly as I approached, then unexpectedly, she stood and hugged me. I didn't really have chance to process what was going on as I hugged her back, but I could see several confused looks around the table until she let go and Meg also hugged me. This seemed to mark me as a sort of 'friend' to the group so I sat with them until Maths.

Meg grilled me about coming in early on the way, I normally just turned up at maths and this change meant something must be up. I managed to fend her off but didn't get chance to speak to Jess at all as we took our seats. Jess had somehow managed to push Meg into a seat first on our usual line of tables, then sat down herself so I could sit next to her rather than dealing with Meg. We still said nothing, but I suddenly felt her move until her leg touched mine.

The lesson started, but I really couldn't concentrate on Integration and differentiation, all I could think about was that leg against mine.
