Chapter 5 by amalgam amalgam

What's next?

Get the hell outta there.

This situation is a bit awkward. As arousing as the scene may be, it's probably best if you just get outta here. There's no need to for trouble, although, it doesn't seem like this guy is inclined to start any. He actually seemed -hospitable.-

"Look, I'll just be going, now," you say, backing out the door.

The guy yells as you go, "Come back anytime, Freshie! But next time I'm charging you!" Laughter spills out of the room. You shut the door and it subsides.

Back in the hallway, where things are relatively normal (read: chaotic), you glance at your paperwork and see that your room isn't 250 at all. The only thing you got right was that it's on the second floor. Funny, how did you mistake 221 for 250?

Finally on the right track, you head to Room 221. This had better be the right room. Your key fits perfectly inside the lock, and the door makes a very satisfying crack as you push it open, however cautiously. Inside, it seems that your roommate is waiting.

"Hey there!" he exclaims, his arms raised high above his shoulders. He extends his lanky arm to officially greet you.

Uday is quite tall (although skinny), and you proclaim as such. At 6'10", there's no doubt that he could flatten you in an instant if he wanted to. He seems like a nice guy, however.

"Real good to meet you," he says, vigorously pumping your arm. You do your best to smile as you lose most the feeling in your hand. "So can I help you with your stuff?" he offers.

"No thanks, I haven't got much," you explain, showing him your paltry three bags. In a matter of ten minutes your clothes are away, your toiletries are shelved and your laptop is up and running, wireless internet and all. You get to know Uday as you work. He's from Boston, a biology major, and a little bit of a baller (not at all surprising, given his height). Speaks Hindi, though not much of a -Hindu.- Loves cheese. His parents own a few restaurants in and around Boston.

Finally, your new home looks something akin to...well...a new home! Not a moment too soon, too, because the four-hour drive to campus was exhausting. It wouldn't have been so bad if the traffic didn't get so horrible as soon as you broke the county line. Unfortunately, you don't have a car, but it's probably easier getting around on foot or bus, anyway.

"Hey, Roomie!" Uday calls, seated in front of his computer, browsing some university-related websites, "there's gonna be a big party tonight at one of the frat houses! Freshmen invited!

"What d'ya say? Are you down?"
